Come dressed up ready to celebrate Independence Day - Wear something red, white and/or blue.
DIRECTIONS TO HARE'S HOLE:
Enter Runda Estate off Limuru Rd, about 1 km beyond Village Market. After barrier, go straight and make the 3rd left, just after Lord Errols, at the new roundabout, where there is also a sign for Runda Water.
Make the 2nd left, on Runda Grove, again where there is a Runda Water sign. Disaster's residence is 313 Runda Grove, on the right side of the road just a bit beyond Runda Water (which is on the left). Sign name out front is MESERVE.
Received this at Ericsson office and it looks pukka.
So, for those of you who worry about these things and can afford to dine at Village Market and Art Caffe, try Njuguna's at Waiyaki Way instead. It is marginally safer, except for the likelihood of a runaway bus from Eldoret crashing into the place, or a visit from Mungiki, and then there's the high cholesterol nyama choma intake..........
*Subject:* Fw: Nairobi Alert: possible attack at Village Market
Hi fyi..
Dear Client,
We have received unconfirmed reports from a reliable source that security personnel in Nairobi, Kenya , have been alerted to possible attacks by extremists on specific sites frequented by foreigners in Nairobi . Typically, we would issue an alert through normal channels, but this process requires a minimum of two sources. In this instance, we have a single but reliable source, and we feel that the potential consequences are dire enough to bring this information to your attention.
We have been alerted to the following possibility:
Kenyan citizens of Somali descent linked to Somalia-based Al-Shabaab Islamist militants may be planning to attack the Village Market in Gigiri, and the Israeli-owned Westgate Mall. Village Market houses a number of diplomatic and duty free stores, and is a regular meeting place for U.N. staff and diplomats. It is advisable, if possible, for all employees operating in Nairobi to minimize time spent in these areas (as well as other locations where foreigners tend to congregate) until details of the threat become clearer, or are dispelled entirely.
We will provide updates as further information emerges.
Herein a Google map to the run site. The cute little green house represents Rosslyn Heights, where we live. Do not go there. The run is elsewhere, as I have clearly indicated on the map. Once you turn right on the kutcha (dirt) road BEFORE reaching Rosslyn Heights or Gachie village, you go down the hill and then up the other side, where my trusty Askari will assist you in depositing your chariots.
Dear HHHashers,
The rising price of ugali has obliged us to increase the cost of Hashing from
Shs 350 to Shs 400, starting from run 493 hosted by Digit next week, 29th June.
The Hare will now receive Shs 250 per person for food if they cater at home, or
Shs 300 if they run the Hash from a restaurant. As before, if you're a Hare
then you will be paid for a minimum of 20 people, even if fewer than this turn
up.
While we're at it, we're also increasing the price of drinks vouchers from Shs
40 to Shs 50. So now a soda will cost you Shs 50 (1 voucher) and a beer will be
Shs 100 (2 vouchers).
The new prices are reflected in our updated "Guide for Hares", gripping reading
for those of you yet to set a run, and downloadable from the ONH3 website:

To get to Lake View, follow Lower Kabete Road from Westlands for a few kilometers. You will pass Hill View estate on right and there after you pass Zen Garden on your right handside. Take the first road to the right (Ngecha road), and then the first street to the right into Lake View. Tell the watchmen at the gate that you are a Hasher, and they may let you through. As you may well know, the 14th Tusker Safari Sevens is this weekend starting 19th - 21st June.
This is an annual event where teams from several countries come to fight it out for the main Trophy. It has been a good year for our Nationals Sevens team who have potrayed Kenya as one of the top rugby nations in the world......(enough of that already)
As the Hash has such a mix of diverse people, I am trying to round people to go watch the matches on Saturday and Sunday too for the finals. We could get a spot and cheer on the various teams.
There will be several food and beer stands all over the grounds.
Secure and plenty of parking is provided with security guards and police on the grounds.
Venue: RFUEA Grounds - off Ngong road and the lot just before Impala Club.
Time: Saturday 20th June anytime from 9AM
It is also fun for the kids.
It promises to be good fun as always and for those who were at Castle Lodge I believe you saw just how much fun we can have together.
So email me: Red Hot, at diwanjiku@... to finish the logistics.......

Hello,
"Shitty" hash last night. Great fun. I will be back!
I'm not sure if this email will go to the whole list or just an administrator,
but if the latter, could you please forward this message on? Assuming it doesn't
violate any hashing email etiquette that I'm unaware of... :
I'm on a team for the Lewa Nature Conservancy 1/2 marathon, and we just lost a
runner and are looking for a replacement. It's supposed to be a fantastically
beautiful run, and the funds go to a good cause. As registration is officially
closed, this may be your only opportunity to join the 2009 race! The team is
made up of a motley crue of people and running paces... with no delusions of
grandeur or goals to win anything.
For more information see http://www.lewa.org/lewa_marathon.php and feel free to
email me at betty.schwollocks@... ... i mean: elena.olivi@...
Thanks,
