We've been sent the following brief info on the annual "Chavakali"
Run, which is organised by the Big Hash and traditionally takes place
in the Kakamega Forest in western Kenya. This year there appears to
be some sort of add-on to Mount Elgon.

We've usually sent up a modest posse from ONH3 by hired bus. It
theoretically takes 7 hours (though last year's lot will recall with
nostalgia their 12 hour safari). This year the event falls on 8th
October, the weekend after the Naivasha Relay - and two weeks after
our 300th run at Glug Glug's place. We're therefore not pushing it as
an ONH3 event. However if anyone's interested you should talk to Tuzo
Tits (Doris Lewa) via: d.lewa@...

If you're already planning to be in western Kenya at that time (it's
a long public holiday weekend) then this is a great event to slot
into your trip. Tuzo Tits will be able to supply details of run
locations and times. Or if you fancy joining the Big Hash bus
departing from Nzogu Bar (in Nairobi West estate) at 10 pm on the
Friday night, well that's also an option for those with lead-lined
stomachs.
