Hash 270
Hare: Cradle Snatcher, with help from Baboon Arse and Freddy Queen
Venue: Hare's Hole, Off Kiambu Road
Not too many hashers turned up, the Hare's Hole being too close to
infamous Kiambu. Or many did not find the correct turn off on Kiambu
Road. I must have taken the wrong track because I couldn't find any
speedbumps or other marks on the stony roads in the area. But I did
find hash marks. While trying to find the Hare's Hole, I got
disturbed by a call from Scissorhands on my mobile asking why I was
not Glossy and how to get to the Hare's Hole (she "accidentally"
called my number instead of Glossy's. What was my number doing in her
mobile anyway?). I told her to just follow car tracks and look out
for other hashers, there were plenty of them hopelessly driving
around.
Luckily, given a bit of time, we all seemed to find Cradlesnatcher's
gate, and after payment and a few wise words from Outrigger, twenty
something hashers sped off on the run. The roads were not only
terrible for driving, but also for running. Otherwise, the air was
cool and unpolluted, a fine area for running. American Pie was
running up front and thus very useful when we came across titi
checks. Baboon Arse took some pictures, hopefully they will feature
on the website and in next year's magazine. The route crossed Kiambu
road, taking us through some coffee, a long-short split, past a large
dam and down onto the tarmac Road. Than followed an unfortunate long
stretch of tarmac along Kiambu Road, until we hit a wet hold at some
nursery, manned by none other than Freddy Queen. The walkers managed
to arrive just after the slowest runners. Then on-on again along the
tarmac, until the turn-off and on-home.
Down downs by Outrigger & catering by Cradlesnatcher, ably assisted
by some georgeous daughters (why do they not hash?). All in all a
healthy run, good food, too bad for those who did not show up.
