Naivasha Relay

OK folks, here's the much anticipated call for participation in this
year's Naivasha Relay. We'd like enter two teams of nine plus a few
subs.

In the past we've had HHH teams from Uganda, Tanzania, Mombasa, etc.
The Big Nairobi Nairobi Hash generally fields several teams so there
are usually 100+ people taking part.

We'll meet around 6 a.m. on Saturday 4th October, somewhere in Karen,
and then head out to the start by the Dagoretti railway bridge.

The relay route is about 80 km and takes us down past Karai village
into the Rift Valley, past Kedong and Suswa, and into the back of
Hell's Gate National Park by around 5 pm.

There are nine Hashers per team and each person is seeded, with some
Hashers running once, others running twice and the top seeds running
three times. You can run as little or as much as you like, depending
on the seed you opt for. It's not a race, so although times are taken
and the "winners" are announced afterwards, everyone waits at the end
of each leg for all the teams to finish, before starting out on the
next leg. So no-one gets left behind. It's a great event and the
scenery is spectacular. You also get a little bit of exercise, dust,
sun and a good time is had by all.

Afterwards we drive to a lodge on Lake Naivasha where food and drink
will be provided. A few down-downs will no doubt ensue and clapped-
out Hashers will slump around the campfire. Anyone who didn't run is
welcome to come down direct from Nairobi.

After breakfast on Sunday you can head back to Nairobi in your own time.

We're in touch with Carnelley's Camp at Naivasha where there are
rooms, cottages and camping, plus food and a bar.

There will be an entry fee which will cover Hells' Gate Park fees,
accommodation, dinner, breakfast and a few admin. costs. More details
soon, but we estimate approx. Sh 2,500 per person. As usual, beers
will be on the Hash.

So there a few details still to be filled in, but if you're interested
at this stage then please contact Dog a.s.a.p.: psavos@...

Also please let us know if you're willing to drive the route - it's
possible to drive and run. You must have a good 4WD vehicle and
should be willing to take a few runners with you. Each runner/
passenger should be prepared to contribute towards their driver's
fuel. Those not driving the route can leave a car somewhere in Karen,
location to be confirmed.

On On!
