Subject: Dive Club - New Ocean Diver course PLUS an AWARE Kids course
Dear members and friends,
Ocean Diver course (novice diver course)
Plans are in place for the first Ocean Diver course of the season. This course is for beginners. I would ask that you please pass on this note to anyone that might be interested in learning to dive.....friends, family, work colleagues ?
A Free Try Dive will be held from 10am on Sunday 17 September at the Club (using the pool......not the dam). This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who thinks they might be interested to give it a go and spend a bit of time in the pool with full scuba gear. It should be a very relaxed day with an opportunity to, meet members and instructors and find out more about the course and the club. The course itself will start at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20 September with the first of the lectures. Lectures will be every Wednesday (1hour) and practical sessions in the pool will be on Sundays. The course consists of 7 lectures, 5 pool sessions, a theory test and a pool assessment. There are 6 open water assessment dives to complete at the coast which we would aim to do in November. The cost of the course will be Ksh 20,000 (this excludes the cost of the coast trip). If you would like a poster then please let me know and I will send one as an attachment.
AWARE Kids
We have an excellent additional offering in the form of the AWARE Kids course. This course is to teach 8-12 year olds about issues facing the underwater world and provide hands-on opportunities to participate in solutions. The AWARE Kids activity book covers education subjects including coral reefs, sharks, kelp forests, whales, dolphins and sea turtles. AWARE Kids Missions encourage younger generations to participate in conservation activities. We use fun puzzles, post cards, underwater posters and more. (Associated with the Project AWARE Foundation, a nonprofit organization conserving underwater environments through education, advocacy and action.)
Course dates, venue and cost:
Dates: Sunday 24 Sept, Sunday 1 October and Sunday 8 October (each time 10:00am to 12:00 noon)
Venue: Dive Club
