Could you pass this on to Hashers as think they may have to rescue somebody one day on the hash run or where ever they may venture off the beaten track. Cheers, Munchie

Subject: Fw: Dive Club - Emergency First Response

The course will be limited to approximately 10-12 people. Don't fail to take advantage of this opportunity. It will be very worthwhile.Those interested please confirm by email or phone as soon as possible. Payment needs to be made in advance.

Subject:  Dive Club - Emergency First Response

Dear all, I bring news of opportunity.As a diver you are probably exposed to a higher risk of accident than the average couch potato. Whether it be dropping an air cylinder on your toe or suffering a more severe life-threatening incident. To be faced with injuries to yourself, friends, family and even strangers, leaves you with a sense of helplessness unless you are trained to respond. If you are trained, then you might save a life !

Emergency First Aid Response
Whether an accident occurs in or out of the water, become a qualified first responder with Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (first aid), a comprehensive and innovative CPR and first aid training  programme. We are extremely fortunate to have Linda Lankenau as an active member of the club. She has kindly agreed to run this double course to teach people how to provide emergency care for someone in need. The course makes learning easy by providing a non-stressful environment in which participants practice and apple emergency care skills. The course is designed to:

1) help participants remember appropriate emergency care procedures during times of need 2) encourage them to apply those procedures to those needing emergency care. Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care – guidelines produced through a consensus process of practicing professionals in the emergency medical field. Educationally, the courses reflect a well-researched instructional design for this type of training.

Course dates, venue and cost ;

Dates: TBA both from 10:30am-3:30pm (ie the course is in two parts)

Venue: Dive Club, Langata Road

Cost: KShs 3,500 for club members and KShs 4,000 for non-members (including materials).

Kind regards, Adrian
