Sandy was a saint! Many good times were had under her watch (or lack of watch). I was always incredulous at how we got away with OJ Simpson style murder at UO and when the Beaver rugby team lost priveleges for a year because someone found a beer cap in a van that had been turned in. We never beat the fuckers on the field, but I can guarantee which team won the party! A rugby party at OSU inevitably wound up waking up in the women's dormitory!
Good times!

Hey Lads,
I was in Eugene yesterday getting one of my twin sons registered for school (One Duck out of two! Nope, he's done with rugby- did it in high school).
We stopped by the Club Sports office to see Sandy Vaughn. She is stil the same, sweet lady that put up with our shenanigans in the State vans. Holy cow! I'm glad the statute of limitations has finally run out for that stuff. Or has it?
Anyway, she said to be sure to tell you all "Hello!"

Have you tried contacting the current U of O Club? Let me know if you need contact information.

Good to hear things are going well, Florida is turning into a two year project, I am now in charge of the Mountain and West states, so in September we're moving to Vegas. I'll write more when I have some time, I've got a presentation in the morning I've got to finish up (in Dallas tonight).

Steve- you sack of bones you! I'll never forget the day in Bend that your big ass knee found it's way into my nutsack during a ruck. It was purely accidental and we both had a big laugh (after I could walk).
How the heck are you!? Florida, good for you. I'm grinding away in the car business still. My twin sons played a couple of years of high school rugby. They don't take after me; they're tall, fast and smart so they didn't get stuck in the front row. They were a matched pair of second rowers. Their team did good- they won State one year and placed 4th the next.
Got to see Juan Mejia and some old faces from Eugene. Our pitchmates are now coaches and refs. It was great to be back "in it" even if from the sidelines.
It's great to hear from you. Some of my fondest memories are from the rugby days and I like to think about all of you guys from time to time. Hell, I just like to remember when I could run without hurting...

Just to give you a quick update of our club. Were struggling a little but we
have alot of
talent this year. Were hoping to return to playoff qualification again this
year. We have a
new coach Tim Wilkinson who has been with the club for 2 years now, who is from
Australia and is a very knowledgeable coach. Were going to the Pac 10 Tournament
in
January and are looking to improve on our 5th place finish from last years
tournament. We
slowly improved every year weve been to the tournament finishing 9th in 2006,
7th in
2007 and 5th last year. This year we hope to finish in the top 3 in in 2009.
We have one player currently on the U-19 National Team in freshman Bobby
Mulvaney, a
prop. And this winter break Bobby will be attending the tryouts for the U-20
National
Team. We also have another very talented senior Joji Kurosaki, who will be a
member of
the 2009 US Maccabi national team, who will be in the 2009 Jewish Olympics in
Jerusalem
this summer.
Just a quick rundown and update of our team. We would love to see you all out at
some of
our games of our alumni game this spring. Ill send out a update to when the game
will be
in the coming weeks. Thanks again for your support of the club.

Kyle,
Welcome in, Mr. President! Glad to have you here. Amongst those of
us online and coming soon we've got a bunch of historical information
for the club. Most of this lot is from the late '70s and
early '80s. We're spread from Montana to Australia and Tasmania
right now.
It would be great to have other eras represented too, so keep
spreading the link to anyone who you can think of.
Also, I'm new to this moderator/setup role. If there's anything I
should/could be doing better or differently please let me know. I'm
a beginner at all of this and very open to direction. In fact, if
there is an experienced modertor out there I would make a seamless
handoff if desired.
I may try to make the game on th 19th.
Thanks again Kyle for joining!

Rugby Ducks,
My name is Kyle McKenzie and I currently sit as the Club President.
First off let me tell you all how excited our team is for the upcoming
alumni game/weekend. We will be holding the game the 19th of may at
the riverfront field. The game will be at 12 noon and end whenever
people want to stop playing rugby. That evening we are trying to hold
a dinner for everyone to get together to catch up and intermingle.
Then hopefully off to the bars!
There will be T-shirts to purchase as well as other fund raising
activities throughout the weekend. We would appreciate any of your support!
I cannot wait to meet all the older alumni and see you all on the pitch!
