Yes, I said new and 1988 model...a rare combination indeed! This 56cm (measured
from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube) Schwinn
Paramount 50th Anniversary Limited Edition built by Waterford is the most
beautiful frame and fork I have ever owned. Even if you are not interested in
buying it, you owe it to yourself to at least look at the pictures. You simply
cannot believe how stunning this is!
Richard Schwinn, formerly the head of Schwinn but now at Waterford, told me this
1988 model was the 47th frameset built in this Limited Edition series that
celebrated Schwinn's fifty years in the bicycle business. It is already a highly
sought collectible, with an especially strong following overseas. In fact, I am
aware of at least one bike collector who has two of the more common (a relative
term since there are not many of these Limited Edition 50th Anniversary frames
around) black models hanging on his wall as art.
The frame is painted a gorgeous candy apple red metallic with gold decals and
the fork is gold-plated. This combination of color is so rich and brilliant it
truly looks like royalty! It also has the original Paramount Stronglight headset
that came with the frameset, as well as the red velvet bag that the gold-plated
fork came in. It has never even been built up and looks as brilliant and regal
as when it was first built.
As to the details, this bike is built of Columbus SLX tubing with Shimano
dropouts both on the fork and frame. There are two sets of water bottle bosses,
a braze-on front derailleur tab, pump peg, chain hanger, horizontal rear
dropouts (no dropout screws in them) spaced 126mm apart, brazed-on downtube
shifter bosses, and the rear brake housing is routed on the top of the top tube.
There is only one paint chip that I could find on the entire frame or fork, and
that is toward the rear of the non-drive side chainstay. This is indeed a
spectacular frame and fork in near-mint condition...I have never seen better in
this model.
This is the most expensive frameset I have ever offered on this list at $925. I
recently sold a black one with several paint chips on the frame and some small
pitting of the clear coat on the gold-plated fork for over $900. This red one is
in significantly better condition and well worth the asking price to someone who
values the historical significance, workmanship, and exquisite ride this
rideable work of art offers.
Pictures are free for the asking.
Thanks,
Frank in McAlester

My son competed in his first triathlon and is hooked! He wants to begin
training a little more seriously. He doesn't have a bike, he trained on the
exercise bikes at the gym, and borrowed a bike for the tri. In spite of the
less than ideal training situation he actually did pretty well. We would like
to find him a decent used bike that he do entry level training on. He is
6'2". Does anyone have a bike for sale?

I'm having a problem with pain in the front of my knee cap when I ride. I
only get this pain when I ride, and it will hurt for a couple of days
afterward. I remember reading somewhere that knee pain can sometimes be
eliminated
by moving the position of your foot on the pedal either forward or backward a
little, I can't remember which. I use clipless pedals. Does anyone know
anything about this?

Dear Bikers,
There are just three destinations left in Escapades' 2005 Bike Trips for All
Seasons:
The Dordogne Region of France, June 11-18: This is the quintessential
European bike trip, where you will bike on rural roads in the pastoral
beauty of the Dordogne and Lot River Valleys, stay in medieval hill towns
and visit ancient villages, chateaus and churches and enjoy the distinctive
and delicious food of the region. This high quality trip is being offered
as a super bargain this year, hundreds of dollars less than trips of other
companies.
Maine: Four Island Bike, Hike and Kayak, July 2-9, August 13-20 and
September 3-10: On this magnificent summer jaunt along the Maine Coast, you
will visit its most exquisite islands with great biking on small roads and
enjoy fabulous scenery, hiking and sea kayaking, visits to local art
galleries, stays in great local inns and delicious meals including "lotsa
lobsta".
Hudson River Valley: Fall Foliage & Historic Houses" Oct. 7-14: On this
fall ramble along the Hudson River Valley, you will love the fabulous biking
on countless country roads amidst brilliant fall color and pristine old
horse and dairy farms. You can also enjoy visits to historic houses
including those of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, the Vanderbilts' and
Frank Church; stops in charming small towns and B&Bs; and dining in great
restaurants, including the legendary Culinary Institute of America.

WE WOULD GRETLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IN LETTING PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS
RIDE.. IT WILL BE AN
ENJOYABLE RIDE FOR A VERY GOOD CAUSE
Okay here's the plan. Since the weather looks great and I think we have all
been there before we will meet at the pavilion at lake Overholser at 3:00pm. I
feel like this should only take about 30 minutes at the most. Please attend if
you can and if you can't send me an e-mail and I will get you the information.
Remember this is for all ride leaders, and anyone wanting to help or be a ride
leader.
When I say help we are looking for people that might want to be a ride leader
just once or twice a month that we can call to fill in.
Thanks again,

Something special for the last FCR of the season.

81 and SH 152.
Ride leader: John Wente 405-354-2301 jwente49@...
There is nothing like waiting until the last minute but alas that is what I have
done. Daylight savings time is this Sunday and with it the start of lots of new
rides. I really need to meet with all ride leaders and anyone wanting to be a
ride leader or assist as a ride leader. With that in mind please lightly mark
your calender for a quick meeting this Sunday afternoon. I'm thinking around 2
or 3 but I'm still trying to find a place to meet. If you have any ideas I'm
all ears. I will let you know something definite ASAP.
If you know you cannot make it on Sunday please send me and email so I can get
you the information.

I recently purchased this built up but never ridden 2001 Serotta Colorado III
from a Serotta bike shop that was closing out their older model Serotta frames.
This is an absolutely gorgeous frameset! The Serotta paint looks wet and the
welds are some of the best I have ever seen. This is a wonderful testament to
the quality workmanship and aesthetic beauty Serotta puts into their hand-built
frames.
This near-new 2001 model Serotta Colorado III frame measures 55cm from the
center of the bottom bracket to the center of the seat tube with a 55cm top
tube. It is finished in the classic Serotta competition red to competition
yellow fade paint scheme with yellow decals on the red down tube and seat tube.
There is a matching yellow 1" threaded carbon fiber fork. This bike will turn
heads wherever you go.it is stunningly beautiful!
The Colorado III uses Serotta's signature C4S steel tube set, which makes it
feel lighter and more responsive than bikes that actually weigh less. C45
Colorado 4th Dimension steel tubing is the most sophisticated steel tune set
made. All tubes are proprietary Serotta size-specific Colorado Concept. Main
tubes have tapered triple short butts for maximum mechanical advantage, minimal
weight, optimum rigidity, and compliance. Seat stays are double-tapered for
maximum strength, beauty, and traction control.
This Serotta Colorado III has Serotta's exclusive 3D XL dropouts and the
legendary Serotta Power "S" bend chain stays. This Serotta has the new Serotta
Head On cable guides, which are light and easy to adjust. Large sculpted pockets
on the barrel adjusters give you a better grip, making for easy "on the fly"
shifting adjustments if necessary.
There are two sets of water bottle bosses, a pump peg, the rear brake cable is
routed at 7 o'clock on the top tube, and it takes a clamp-on front derailleur.
The head tube 15mm extended top of the head tube for better fit and
adjustability and the rear dropout spacing is 130mm.
The fork has a few places on the fork crown where the paint was scratched off
when the fork crown was removed. The Serotta bike shop where I bought the frame
looked it over and indicated the scratches are cosmetic in nature, not
structurally significant.
The price on the 2001 model frame and fork was $1,495, and that didn't include a
fork. You can buy this near-new one for only $795, and that includes the
matching carbon fiber fork!
As a bonus, you can get free (a $49.99 value) a 6-bike mobile storage rack:

This is a new, never ridden or even built up, Lyonsport frame and fork. This
frame and fork were built for display at bike shows to showcase Jeff Lyon's
wonderful workmanship.
Jeff Lyon has been building beautiful and strong fillet-brazed hand-built frames
for more than 25 years. For those who are not familiar with the pedigree of this
framebuilder, Jeff Lyon, you can read about him at:
http://www.lyonsport.com/web/history.html
The frame measures 54cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the
top tube, with a 54cm top tube. The seat tube is 75 degrees and the head tube
angle is 72.5 degrees, with 130mm rear spacing.
This frameset is a beautiful candy blue color (blue pearl over a silver base
coat.stunning!!) built of Reynolds 725 tubing (a high-end heat-treated butted
steel) with fillet brazed joints. The fork is a painted to match Tom Ritchey
threadless fork.
This frame has Lyon's signature wishbone rear seatstay and Breezer-type rear
dropouts. The rear brake cable is routed at 7 o'clock on the top tube and the
bike uses a Shimano-type derailleur cable guide under the bottom bracket shell.
This would make a great all-around bike, with fender eyelets front and rear and
rack braze-ons on the seat stays. The cable adjusters are on the headtube, not
on the downtube, so this would be better built with Campy Ergo or Shimano STI
components rather than downtube shifters.
Pictures available on request.
$300 picked up in McAlester.
Thanks,
Frank in McAlester

This Rossin has never been ridden or even built up..it is new old stock. I
bought it from a bike shop when they were closing out some of their Rossin line
of framesets.
This beautiful fully-lugged Rossin measures 54cm from the center of the bottom
bracket to the center of the seat tube, with a 55cm top tube. The frame has a
canary yellow to inkwell blue paint scheme with contrasting decals on the down
tube and seat tube. The 1" threaded fork is a matching yellow with chromed lower
legs. The right chain stay is also chromed.
The tubing is Columbus Neuron, one of the finest steels offered by Columbus and
designed exclusively for bicycle frames. Neuron tubing is one of the tubesets in
the Columbus Nivacrom steel family. Columbus Nivacrom gets its strength not from
heat-treatment, but from special composition. Niobium and vanadium are alloyed
with the other elements to produce a high strength and dependable steel. The
high end Columbus tubesets are all made of this same material, with different
shapes and butting profiles. Makes for a strong, yet light, steel frameset.
There are two sets of water bottle bosses, a braze-on front derailleur tab, down
tube shifter bosses, and the rear brake cable is internally routed through the
top tube. The rear dropouts are semi-vertical with adjusting screws included.
The rear spacing on the dropouts is 130mm, the head tube is 136mm in length, and
the 1" threaded fork steerer tube measures 182mm.
The frame is fully lugged, with the Rossin "R" cut out of the lower head tube
lug. The head tube lugs also have some curls to them, making for a very nice
fancy touch. Decal on the bottom of the seat tube says "Handmade by Rossin Italy
The Dupont System".
This bike was new old stock with a very few very small paint chips that have
been touched up. I cleaned up the bottom bracket shell and an Italian bottom
bracket spins right in. $400 picked up in McAlester. Pictures available on
request.
Thanks, Frank

$400 picked up in McAlester.

Frank in McAlester
