  Ian just reminded me that the Santa Barbara Hat Tourney is happening next Saturday, December 5th as a fundraiser for the UCSB college teams.  Unfortunately, I can't make it since, in a unlikely alignment of ironically conflicting good intentions, it seems that some holiday parties are being held early to avoid overlapping other parties, but they all chose the same early date - December 5th.  So while you can all be there getting healthier running around playing disc, I will be getting decidedly less healthy while being stuffed with buttery food and alcohol all day long.  The only known link for it is here at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/event.php?eid=171125109716&ref=ts - you may have to be signed into facebook to see it, but for those of you who taken the red pill and eschewed the Matrix, here is a screen cap of the page:

Thanksgiving greetings to All,

 

Watching Eric run, I was reminded of the speed that paint dries – is there a calculation that can made on this?  Jason?  Joel the myth?  In any case, I’m pretty sure that’s Hours Per Mile, rather than the reverse.

 

To all 23 attendees (mostly players, with a few enlightened spectators) – thanks for making it a spectacular evening.  The weather was outstanding – mildly brisk, but no wind.  The play was inspired – especially by the ladies, who outplayed the men (especially deep in the endzone, when only an incredibly weak foul call delayed one eventual turnover).  The night ended with a double-burn by Glenn (hand-block to endzone catch) followed one second later with the lights going out.  Like a scene from “The Natural”.  I think I actually saw the cover coming off the disc as it sailed upside-down through the about-to-be-dark evening sky…

 

On behalf of Commander Glenn, we can’t to get out there and play again this winter.

 

Enjoy your Turkey (or tofurkey, as the case might be) and have a great week.

In at 40% capacity.

I had bumped it up to 110% hearing that the Commander will be there. Then after taking into consideration that Pat will be there, knowing he won't play defense or really pose much of an offensive threat, I determined I won't have to hardly run at all and could still school the old man, and therefore, lowered myself by 70%.

What's that Pat, did you hurt something?

Update: Ojai Beverage Co., before and after tonight’s game.  Probably we’ll be there around 6:00-ish.

 

Joel, is Brennan quite ready to lift a disc yet?  You’ve gotta work out some sideline daycare, man.

I had bumped it up to 110% hearing that the Commander will be there. Then after taking into consideration that Pat will be there, knowing he won't play defense or really pose much of an offensive threat, I determined I won't have to hardly run at all and could still school the old man, and therefore, lowered myself by 70%.

What's that Pat, did you hurt something?

Calling Game On. We have at least 12 and lots of maybes.

Intner, what's your status?

Game at Sarzotti Park in Ojai. Stretch & throw at 6:30 pm, first pull by 7:00 pm.

Directions to Sarzotti Park: Take Ojai Avenue through downtown, and watch for Park Rd. on the left (There’s a Chinese Restaurant on one corner and a pet groomers on the other). Turn left onto Park Rd. Sarzotti Park is a block and a half up on the right. $3.00 drop-in fee for use of Parks & Rec facility (waived for teens 18 and under). Bring a WHITE and a dark shirt.


A few housekeeping notes:

  • We need to be a bit tighter about the waiver forms. Please sign the form prior to taking the field; a lot of people are forgetting to do it at all. We need to be on top of this so that we can stay in good graces with the rec department and continue to have the privilege of using the field.
  • If you didn’t pay your drop-in fee last week, please bring it with you this week. See me directly; for accounting reasons, the Rec department needs us to keep each week separate (don’t just shove $6 in this week’s envelope).
  • Bring a white shirt and a dark shirt.
  • Read the 11th edition rules of ultimate; http://upa.org/ultimate/rules . Stop lagging and just do it. If you haven't read the rules, then you have no right to claim that someone else who has read them is in error.
