Watch the attached video – anything less than this type of minor injury is a sissy excuse…

 

I played an entire tournament with two legs injured worse than the guy in the video.  

 

Just rub some dirt on it and man up.

I remember when I was but a lad, basketball was called a non-contact sport, and football was a contact sport.  At some point along the way, some wise person changed the definition to more closely match reality: basketball became a contact sport, while football was classified as a collision sport.  

 

Me thinks we are about 12 months of further recession away from a full-on “Rollerball*” ultimate match with limited substitution, no rules, and chants of Jonathan…Jonathan…Jonathan…Jonathan!

 

Happy 4th of July!!  If you have any of those cool guns that shoot fireballs, let’s go torch some trees at sunrise*.

Sorry Dave but I lived half of my life in a nation that scored 6 goals in one

game to the undefeated English team. (yes I know it was in the 50`s)

Anyway, soccer players can use their upper body - no arms, just the upper body

to push force the opponent to give up the ball. In this case on the video - but

I could not watch it fully since my heart stopped and I dropped unconsciously

under my desk in my office - it happens o be something else than the upper body

in the way of the lower limb and caused the >bending".



Good game yesterday glad to hear that I am not the only one complaining about

See you guys out there.  Sarzotti Park at 6:30 pm. Directions to Sarzotti Park: Take Ojai Avenue through downtown, and watch for Park Rd. on the left (There’s a Chinese Restaurant on one corner and Computer store on the other). Turn left onto Park Rd. Sarzotti Park is a block and a half up on the right. $3.00 drop-in fee for use of Parks & Rec facility (waived for teens 18 and under). Bring a WHITE and a dark shirt.

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder that practice has been moved to Tuesdays at 6.  In addition to our upcoming rematch with NP, Jim and I want to put together a team for Lei Out this year.  For those that don't know, Lei out is a super fun beach tournament held in Santa Monica on MLK weekend.  Around 70 teams show up from all over the country, so it is a huge event.  Jim and I played on a pick up team last year and had an awesome time (and almost won the B bracket), but think it would  much more fun to form our own team with our friends.

So Tuesdays practices are going to double as our tryouts.  First and foremost we are looking for a core group of people who are dedicated and will not flake out after they commit to playing in the tournament.  Second and just as foremost we are looking for girls, because it is a coed tournament and we will need a bunch of them.  Finally, we are looking for people with good ultimate skills; such as speed, intensity, handling, and the ability to drink lots of CLs and still kick ass!

So start talking it up and get the word out to people.  Lets try to make it happen.  See you guys on Tuesday and don't for get to bring your A-game :)
