Well the trike is dead! We got it mostly togather and tryed it and it
pushed so bad that you couldent drive it We were afrade it would push
some and had a "plan B" I made a floteig wheel hub for the right rear
wheel so that it would only have 1 drive wheel insted of a live axel.
That seemd like it was going to work great pushing it around in the
garage, but then we took it outside and tryed to ride it and had
another problem, It drove great as long as you were coasting, but when
you hit the gas it only wanted to go right! You couldent even hold it
stright while giveing it gas!
the only thing to fix it would be to rake the front fork more, and that
would make it longer than We wanted!
So Now it has been cut up! the minibike part has been cut off and We
are going back to what We started to build in the first place, a
barstool racer.
I will post some pictures of it if there is any interest.

Hi
Theres not been much going on in the group lately. I havent done much
to report on My buggy till today, I made an intake manafold for the
engine this week and today I put it & the carb on and tryed the engine!
It runs GREAT! The carb that I got off ebay seems like it is going to
be just what this honda wanted! Other than that the only thing I have
acomplished is to get a little more tubeing for the rollcage, I have
about 20 feet of it now but I need around 90 ft. of it and the longest
pice I have is about 6 ft. and I have to have at least 1 that is 13
feet long to make the main loop of the cage out of! I could weld 2
togather but I would rather not do that! I have found a sorce for 1in x
11g. dom. at a good price but they can only suply 10ft. lenths and I
would rather 13g. but I might just buy some of the 11g. if I dont find
another sorce!
Well I will end this for now and let yall know when I make some more
headway!

Hi All
I am still looking for roll cage material for My buggy. I was wondering
what others have used for theres? I have looked at about everything but
the only thing that I have found that is close to being affordable is
sech.40 black iron pipe and it is a lot heaver than I would like to
use. I looked for sech.20 black iron but no one in My area stocks it.I
have allso looked at electrical conduit but I dont think it would be
strong enough to offer much protection without useing a lot more of it
than other pipe or tubeing. Has any one used conduit and if so would
You recomend it?
Does anyone have any ideas on what else there is readily available?
I am keeping My eye out at the local scrap yard but not haveing any
luck.
Thanks

Hi All
I have finely made up My mind on My rear syspinsion and trailing arms
are what I decided to go with. These will be easer to make, Take less
metal and everything fits into the area much better!
I had a sleepless night last night so I started drawing and meshureing
and desined the trailing arms there mounts and the mount for the
transaxel! I allso did a little drawing & thinking about the brakes. I
am going to have 2 discks with calipers from the front of a suzuki
streetbike and I am allso going to use a cheep mechanical calliper on 1
or the roters for a parking break.

Hi Everyone
I just posted some pictures of a pit trike that I am helping a friend
build. We have been working on this for a while now. We dont get to
work on it verry often but it is allmost finished now! I will post a
couple more pictures when it is finished.
We started out with an old(mid 60s to early 70s) minibike and an
outdated racing go kart frame. The go kart frame was cut at the front
of the seat area. The minibike frame was cut under the seat area and
just in front of the engine mount. The 2 bottom tubes of the minibike
frame were then spred to match the go kart frame width and squared up
and welded to it with the go kart frome upsidedown for more ground
clearance. We took some of the tubeing from the discarded
frame peaces and some new tubeing and extended the top of the
minibike frame to the back of the go kart frame. The engine mount is
made from 3/16 steel plate. We are useing a disc brake setup for a
raceing go kart.
The engine is an early animal overhead valve briggs. We put a raceing
stock class flathead 5hp briggs on it(app.12hp) once for a test run
and it was way to fast! This animal is app.9hp.
We still need to finish the seat, the plywood is cut out We just need
to get some foamrubber for padding and some vinyl for it to finish it.
We are haveing truble with the carb but hopefully We will have that
worked out next week.

I bought "A"arms with the balljoints in them on ebay, they are for the
china knokoff of a banshee 4 wheeler, they are well made and look to be
verry strong. The rear axels are something that I couldent think of in
the last post, I got 2 tractor PTO shafts from Surpluss Center, they
come with 2 compleet U Joints each and a slider shaft for $25 each. I
got brakes for the front of a Suzuki street bike off ebay, I got 2
calipers and the mastercylinder. I am going to use these with raceing
go kart roters on the back axel. I thought about doind front brakes but
decided that I wont need them(i hope lol) If the need for front brakes
comes up I can allways add them later.

Hi Michael
So far I have gotten the 1x3 box tubeing for the base frame,2
18x8.5x8 rear wheels, 2 15x6.5x8 front wheels, a raceing bucket seat,
all 4 front suspinsion arms with balljointes and 6 grade 8 bolts to
attach them with, Commet 40 series toqurck converter system, 4
sprockets and 10ft. of chain,4 1in.id. ballbearrings, 2 boots for My
rack&pinion, a steeringwheel, a carbarator, a carb kit, 2 3/4x16x6
grade 8 bolts for front axels,4 wheel hubs,20 lugnuts, alu. sheet for
floorboard,2 roals of welding wire, some 3/8 steal plate for transaxel
case, A 4 point raceing seatbelt, And I know there are some more
little things that I cant think of rite now.
I still havent found a good deal on the tubeing for the cage yet. I
might have to brake down and pay reatail price (ouch) for it. Other
than the tubeing and a little more 3/8 steel plate I have most of
what I need to finish buildeing My buggy!
I did some tradeing and got the engine I am going to use over a year
ago and only have about $50 cash in it! It is a mildley modifyed 13
hp Honda GX390 off a minicup car. It should make around 20-25 hp.

discutions and tell us all what You have been up to with Your offroad
go karts!
We have several new members and some of the original members are
allready back onboard!
I have gone through the members list and removed all of the members
that were "bounceing" emails ( this uasually happens because the
member has quit useing or deleeted the yahoo ID that they joined the
group with) Acording to Yahoo this will make the group email faster
for those who recieve group messages in there email! If I deleeted
anyone that still wants to be a member Please rejoin the group with
Your current Yahoo ID and let Me know that You used to be a member
and are rejoining the group, include Your old ID that You used to use
and I will approve Your membership ASAP and the first time You post a
message to the group I will change You to unmoderated!

I have finished My plans for the transaxel! I made a couple of changes
in it, mostley to simplyfy things. I have decided to use a chan and
sprockets for the finel drive and part of reverce, this will eleminate
8 gears and 8 bearings! I had allso not thought much about finel drive
ratio when I posted beore. With 8 to 1 in the transaxel I would have
had way to low of a gear ratio, after doing some reserch and math I
decided that 3 to 1 in the transaxel would be low enough. With the
toqurc converter I will have a low of allmost 9 to 1. I have all of
the gears, sprockets, and chane for the internails ordered I have all
of the bearrings on hand now and part of the steel for the case. I
still need to get part of the shafting and some more plate before for
the case I can start buildeing it though.
I will post pictures when I get started on it.

There is several sites listed in the links, Tre them or google "off
road gokart plans" and see what you get. Or You can do like Me and lots
of others have done, desine Your own. You can look at what others have
built to get ideas, then use what You like and dont use what You
dislike to make Your own desine.

I just took a look at the rhino files, it is a traning program for a 3d
cad system of the same name. The 3DM files requier a cad system to view.
