Can't disagree with 1-3.
Chad may be done but he rushed it and should never have started the
season. I think that was evident from his assortment of lollipop
passes. You only have to look to baseball to see how rotator cuff
injuries should be dealt with. That said, surgery and the appropriate
period of rest might see him back at full strength. We still have
enough invested in him that we may as well. Though we may wind up with
a bad enough record this season to draft a good QB.
Regarding salary I think you made the opposite case. If players get
injured but you lock them up in long term deals you are putting your
team into very difficut finances. Look at this season where we had no
money to sign replacements for anyone. Partly because of the huge
contract they gave Pennington, they had no salary cap room at all
(meaning they couldn't pay Abraham even if they wanted to) so they
couldn't sign a decent QB nor other players to replace their injured.
Overpaying players who consistently get hurt and don't play when hurt
is not a good way to run a team. Abraham is great when he's on the
field, but he wasn't there when it counted.
I'd like to see Curtis finish it out and see if he can still eke out
1,000 yards for the season. He's the kind of guy you want to see get
into the record books.
