Hi!
Does someone know if Jan's book is going to be translated to english
or spanish, and where we can find it?
Another question: Who thinks that Jan can win the world
championship!?

Aug 9.2004/ With just days before the games start in Athens (August 13-29)
the German and Kazakh riders are currently fine-tuning their Olympic
preparations together in a training camp on the island of Crete T-Mobile
directeur sportif Mario Kummer is assuming the role of German Olympic
trainer and he was up at the crack of dawn on Monday to travel from his home
in Germany to the Greek island.
By 16:00 Jan Ullrich, Andreas Klöden, Erik Zabel (all T-Mobile Team), Jens
Voigt (CSC) and Michael Rich (Gerolsteiner) had all checked into the
training camp, where they joined up with T-Mobile's Kazakh duo of Alexander
Vinokourov and Sergei Jakovlev who will also spend the next few days under
Kummer's supervision.
Meanwhile, Santiago Botero has joined up with his Colombian team collagues
for their final Olympic preparations in Spain. Daniele Nardello has hooked
up with the Italian Olympic team training camp and and Sergei Ivanov is
currently rolling the legs in Belgium. The Russian will find out on Thursday
if he will represent his country in the Olympics. "He is the first
replacement", were the words of Alexander Gusjatnikov, president of Russia's
cycling union.
Mental preparations
In Crete the riders will concentrate on preparing psychologially for the
games, as well as getting some training kilometres in their legs. According
to Mario Kummer: "Physically there are all in good shape. The form is good.
What the lads need now is to clear their heads and concentrate on the games,
so they can go to Athens fully focussed." The Olympic coach is thinking of
Alexander Vinokourov in particular. Only yesterday the Kazakh completed his
return from injury by wrapping up the overall win in the Regio-Tour, and now
needs to switch his focus.
"The team had better luck at the Regio-Tour than it did in San Sebastian",
said a laughing "Vino". Vino doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to
the Olympic gold medal however; he wants to win it for Kazakhstan. "If the
Germans want to win it, then they will have to beat me," he says.
The T-Mobile Team mechanics and physios are also on hand
It is not just the riders from the T-Mobile Team who are travelling to
Athens: Mechanics Stefan Ullrich and Perry Moermann will be making the trip,
as will physios Birgit Krohme and Dieter "The Owl" Ruthenberg. Gerolsteiner
mechanic Rajen Mourigajan rounds off the support team.
The first training session was set for 17:00 on Monday. The riders will hit
the roads of Crete on training bikes. Perry Moermann and Stefan Ullrich are
transporting the bikes that will see competitive action in Athens. Tomorrow
the mechanics begin the journey by truck to the Italian port of Lecarna,
from there they will take a ferry to the Greek mainland. "We arrive with the
bikes on Thursday", promises the Belgian Moermann.
This is a loose translation - if anyone can do better, go for it.
Without a saddle it does not go
Hello fans,
At the San Sebastian [race] I was hit with two strokes of bad luck. Ten
kilometers before the Jaizkibel I had a puncture and then I was nearly again
with the top group of riders, when the saddle on my bicycle broke. I drove
straight by a kuhle (this a type of motorcycle?) and because I thought the
seat would set itself straight, I didn't stop it. Left behind in the
departure. I stood helplessly on far corridor and waited for a replacement.
But by the time the team car reached me, the harm was done and I was out of
the race (the team car had no replacement bike for Jan)! Perhaps I have
saved up the luck for Athens. Primarily it depended me on the form
examination. And those ran to my satisfaction.
Yours,
Jan

Anyone know of the other teams, other than uspostal and csc, that offered to
have Jan on their team? There was a story in the news recently that Coast
had not been paying its riders. In the story, it quoted Jan as saying he
would give them two weeks and then he would ride for another team. Does
anyone know what specific team he was going to ride for? thanks.

Just got that from the German Videotext.
Jan has decided not to sign a Telekom Contract and they're going
separate ways from now on.

to be honest, i was complaining about the sincere lack of activity
out of the people in this club. not implying that you guys dont love
the kaiser anymore.... honestly! cant you post without being offened
first?
Don't you think it's a bit harsh to imply that Ullrich
fans have abandoned him after what's happenned? You
should give fans some credit..it's a difficult time,
and most people probably don't think it's necessary to
remind people they're still loyal. I agree with Kian
- it's difficult to know how to comment
Im not bitching, maybe we should post more; but I
don't think the silence is due to people losing faith
in Jan

You may be right. But there were so many rumours around so I thought
I can't post or I shouldn't post that. Especially in Germany he was
nearly every day in the Headlines. From the Day when we knew that he
failed the Doping Test untill the Day he gave the press conference
and even one week later.
Sorry, but my English isn't so good.
The Day before he had the second knee operation there was the
Headline that he might quitt because of a lack of motivation and so
on.
Our French Friends wrote that he will decide on August 31 about this
future and that he will leave Telekom. Nothing happend.

Hi everybody,
I'm new here. My name is Kian and I'm from Germany. Not really a
cycling fan but of course cheering for Jan.
I know that this is a bit impertinent but I'm desperatly looking for
a copy of the Olympic Road Race (Sydney 2000). My brother just erased
my tape. So if anyone could help me please please please contact me!
Thanks
bye
kian
Hey you guys! I can't believe the news about Jan not riding the
Tour! But I do have to admit that I give him props for being super-
careful with his injuries. Hi website says that he wants to do the
Vuelta like he did in '99 when he had to skip the Tour because of
the same injury. But anyway, just in case you guys don't read
German. jk. c u all later! - cai.
Hi, things are a bit quiet, no replies to my last message!
Is anyone planning to go to any of the races this year? I'm booked
for the TdF but I don't know how many others I'll go to. Last year I
did 5, I don't think I'll do so many this year but we'll see what
happens.
I like Jan but my favourite cyclist is Casero.
Well, it would be nice if we could get some discussions going.
Bye for now!

Hi everyone
I'm new here, this is my first message.
I'm from the UK and I've been a cycling fan for many years. Last year
I managed to get to five races over on the continent and this year I'm
hoping to do some more.
I'm pleased to join you and if anyone knows of any other groups for
specific riders please let me know as I have lots of favourites of
which Jan is only one!

Hey all, guess what? I get to go meet the
competition today. Lance Armstrong is in my hometown to day
w/ the Olypic torch, so I'll get to meet him. But to
be honest, I'd much rather meet Jan. But what can
you do when you live in San Diego?
