We have published 2 new picture gallery's (Zuerich Metzgete and
Sparkassen Münsterland Giro) and in today's cyclingheroes newsflash
(October 5) another story about Jan Ullrich.
We posted a picture gallery of the world championships on

Tomorrow we will publish part 2 of our analysis of the Operation
Puerto documents.
They're blood doping. Gotta be. That's how Landis got caught. He tested OK
after the 16th stage and positive for testosterone after the 17th stage -
the only way that could have happened is if they blood doped him and the
blood sample had been taken previously when he was still on testosterone.
I saw Ulrich have two major crashes and got up the next day and ride just
like nothing happen.
Not sure what is going to happen. I think they ought to just let those who
want to dope, DO it. Because athletes can NOT do super human feats without
chemical help. If the audience wants to see the super human feats, they
have to realize how that is accomplished.
Like someone stated in a book in the TdF that I read "you cannot expect a
cyclist to ride 2000 miles in 2 weeks on a donut!" (that author, who had
participated himself, said it was common knowledge that elite athletes,
cyclists did dope - he said most Olympic athletes do it also).
No one likes to talk plain about this but I think the audience should
realize that there is no fairy godmother and you cannot have your cake and
eat it. And that it's probably impossible to regulate drugs so just let it
go....

Seeing as how Jan has never yet flunked a drug test, I suspect they WILL
have a lot of trouble proving a case against him!

Ullrich yet. They expect a lot of legal trouble:

This is a translated piece from Jan's website:
Thursday, 27 July 2006
VIEW: Jan Ullrich, did you spend much of the last 3 weeks in front of the TV?
(watching the TdF)
Ullrich: It's like this. I have ridden the race - I also have friends who
participated. But I didn't sit in front of the TV for hours every day. I
watched the important stages and of course, the final stage.
VIEW: Would you have won?
"That is a hypothetical question. But I had trained for a long time and had
support from a great team! I surely could have done well. But with what
happened, I was stopped [from competing]. It made me happy though that my good
friend Andreas Kloden came in third! T-Mobile got three stage wins! With only 7
men!"
VIEW: T-mobile was the most successful team but yet, as a crew nevertheless
failed. If Kloden did not allow Landis to get ahead in such a generous manner,
would Kloden have won?
"I would not say that we failed. The team took the best team award. It was with
difficulty that they did this considering that OSCAR Sevilla, the sport
director, Rudy Pevenage and I had been suspended. The captain was away, that was
depressing for the team. I take off my hat at those young riders, again and
again attacked."
VIEW: But honestly: Since your victory 1997 it would have been in this year more
simple than ever before, to win your second tour.
"I thought about this many times: I would have had a good chance for a win, this
year."
VIEW: You look, as if you are still in top form. Did you train much during the
race?
"I was in peak form before the race - and then I was told the day before the
race to leave. I was suspended - and did not know why or, how it continues. I
was naturally very depressed and had major motivation problems."
VIEW: How do we have to imagine that? Did you hide yourselves in Scherzingen in
your house?
"No, I never hid myself. I was with my daughter, Sarah Maria. She celebrated her
third birthday on July 1st. It was the first time that I could celebrate her
birthday with her. That was very beautiful for me. But as for bicycling, I had
for the time being, no desire."
VIEW: And then the urge (to ride) came back suddenly?
" One week ago I felt a strong desire to ride. I noticed that I missed the
exercise with my sportsman heart. And then it was, my passion had returned for
bicycling. I have been training for some days again and have been enjoying it."
VIEW: So you are going to continue racing rather than retire?
"I always said: I will stop with a race victory. This year it was unfortunately
refused to me. Therefore I am anxious to race for another year.
VIEW: You still often speak as "we" as if you are still a member of T-Mobile.
And you did not accept the notice [firing you].
"I speak in the "we" form because until recently I still belonged to the team.
But naturally those brought young successes in with the race alone. I do not
accept the termination notice, because there is no reason for this in my point
of view. I expected more support from the team as in the way that Bjarne Riis
supports Ivan Basso. That is they SHOULD say: 'Okay, we are waiting, to see what
results in the Doping accusation. " I should not have to prove my innocence. It
is beneath human dignity if I must deliver a gene test. I am a professional
biker and NOT a murderer or criminal. Before I allow them to do that with me,
much has to happen."
VIEW: Jan Ullrich, completely honestly: Did you really never dope in your
career?
"Naturally not. I have never in my whole career betrayed a team director. That
is fact. I had this year of Swiss Olympic and the Antidoping Weltagenur eleven
unscheduled drug tests in addition to the usual scheduled drug tests. I never
experienced that in my whole career in so short time. I proved thereby my
innocence, because all the tests were negative. But naturally you don't read
about THAT in the newspaper!"
VIEW: , You know Jan Ullrich, the Spanish Doping doctor Eufemanio Fuentes?
"I have already answered that question" (Ullrich had protested, he had still
seen Fuentes, - editor).
VIEW: Why with so much at stake don't you tear out a hair and allow a DNA test?
"I am not accused yet. They don't have any real allegations against me.
Everything is based only, on medium messages and speculations. And as I said
before: I was tested negatively many times. "
VIEW: Since doping is not new to the cycle racing field, no one has much
confidence in it right now.
"I am not responsible for that. I do not have to iron out the misdemeanours of
the whole cycle racing and today I would like I only say this: Jan Ullrich will
not give up. In German newspapers, I was described as the biker who will never
again race. That is not correct. It is an insolence, the way the German media
deals with me. Two years ago, I received the award for the fairest sportsman,
the golden award of the hearts from the "PICTURES". Now the media describes me
as one of Germany's biggest losers."
VIEW: If you win 2007 Tour De France, you are immediately again the biggest
winner.
"I do not want that at all. I want to only show that I can still do it. Why do I
need the award of the hearts? That brings nothing to me nor the fans. I am fair
- with or without this honor."
VIEW: Do you anticipate facing a problem of being suspended or banned?
"I assume I will not be banned. I see no basis simple for me to be banned or
suspended."
VIEW: You plan to marry soon. Do you also plan to have kids with your new wife?
"In my heart I feel very lucky. I found my dream woman and will marry her yet,
this year. And I took more time for my daughter now, which is very important. I
want to see my daughter grow up. And: yes, I would like more children with my
new Partner."
VIEW: What is the meaning of your bracelet?
"There are angels charms - Lucky angel. I am superstitious and try, to be a
good person. I want to go to Heaven and not to hell."
VIEW: But has that not to do rather with faith than with superstition?
"They are nevertheless, close together. I believe in the dear God, however I
need no church. My faith helps me much and gives me much support."

From Jan Ullrich's website:
Provisional gag order against Franke
Sunday, 13 August 2006
Jan Ullrich successfully resists the accusations, which are raised in connection
with the Spanish physician Dr. Fuentes against him.
The biking star (and attorneys) obtained a provisional gag order from the
Hamburg regional court against Professor Dr. Werner Franke. The molecular
biologist may not say that Ullrich spent 35,000 euro in one year alone for the
acquisition of illegal substances. If the Heibelberg doctor violates this gag
order, he faces up to 250.000 euro fine or 6 months detention.

Also I found this:
13.08.2006/ Jan Ullrich published a statement today that he won a court case
against Prof. Dr. Werner Franke who accused him again and again in the
German press of paying Euro 35.000 a year to Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes. The
Hamburg court decided that Franke is not allowed to say this anymore in
public. The court ruled that if Franke repeats his allegations he will have
to pay a fine of Euro 250.000 or has to go 6 months in prison. Franke is a
highly respected anti-doping fighter in germany but was heavily critized in
the last weeks because of populist remarks regarding the Fuentes case and
for personally offending Jan Ullrich.
