The race is at the Fair grounds same as last year, look at web site
photo album 2004 Perth to see track and how smooth it is in front of
grand stand. Registration is 10:00am or before , heat races start at
around 11:00am and the feature races go off at 12:00 sharp. Oeltra
member Jason Dowdall is busting his butt for the club and Fair to even
better a great race from 2004 with Trophies and a purse. Because of
the long weekend the Club is a little short on help, so come on racers
show up early enough to lend a hand to make this one of the top races
for 2005, we sure have the curcuit for it.
Rod
It just keeps on getting better, we had the privilege to have the
chair person for the South Moutain Fair came down to check out the
Odessa Fair Race. So for all you Sod Warriors that had a great time at
Odessa, here's the scoop. South Mountain is offering up a generous
cash purse for the four Modified Classes, plus trophies for all, and
some other real cool prizes, and best of all a larger and Smoooooth
circuit for some fast pace action. There will also be a Box Stock
Class and hopefully some of the wives and girl friends can kick up
some turf in the Powder Puff Race.
See ya at the Races
Lots of tractor chatter out there about this up coming event on Sat.
13th August. To anwser some of the emails and calls: YES there will be
a stock class, and if you do any modifications to your machine it is
no longer stock. All you need to do is remove the blades and or deck
and your set to go. But don't fear, there is plenty of other classes
for you to run in and the only way to learn Is come on out to the
races, This is a family sport and a great hobby even for just starting
out. So mow your way down to the Fair early meet the other racers and
have some fun.
Oeltra and its' premier league of racers WOW's the fans at the
Lombardy Fair this year. It was a great time in the pits and on the
track. We saw even more new racers join us making for some competitive
racing. The results / highlights and what some of the party animals
were up to will be up soon.
The Odessa Fair Race is closing in fast set for Sat.13th Aug./05 I'm
told some of the Ottawa and Metcalfe area racers will make it down and
all the regular and new racers will be showing their wares at Odessa,
indicating that this will be the largest attended race in the
Kingston/Belliville area this year. There is the parade at 9:00am in
Odessa and 4 racers have comitted to go in it ,if you want to be a
part of the parade contact Dave Postma. The Team Small Engine party
crew are helping in a big way at the Odessa Race and following the
race there is a party at their place on Hwy 2 Kingston.
Please note that this race has time restraints and the driver meeting
is at 11:30 am and the first class goes off at 12:00 sharp. So please
get there early if you can, to help out and get the pre race stuff done.
On a personal note, thanks for all the get well emails and calls after
the crash at Lombardy, the Old Sod-Warrior will be back racing can't
say when the doctor may be reading this Ha!! Ha!!
See ya all at Odessa Rod
A little confusion over race start time. The fair web site says 11:00
am start and Oeltra site shows 1:00 pm......... Here is the scoop,
registration opens at 11:00 am track opens soon after for hot laps and
other cool stuff. THE GREEN FLAG DROPS AT 1:00 PM try and get there
early and don't forget racers need to have a number on there tractor
and teched before entering track
Hey; Fans and drivers the results and highlights for the last races
are now posted on the Oeltra web site. Hope you enjoy a good read, a
slight edit to the Brighton Speedway Race Highlights, I just call it a
mild version as I see it.
The Lombardy Fair Race is closing in fast, just a note we hope to make
the circuit a road course with some right turns, we have the same area
as the Kars Fair ball field. There's lots going on at Lombardy so I
hope you plan to attend and share in some great racing and fun Fair.
See ya at the races The Old Sod-Warrior

Dave Postma....

breaking down Jeff Easton would appreciate it.
Ontario Street will be closed off for this show.
Let us know.
All razzing aside, it is for charity (no that's not a girls name).

with the KARS fair on the 16th of July at 1 pm followed by the
infamous Redneck 500 in Northbrook on the 17th at 2 pm.

The show off of four member tractors Saturday night at Brighton
Speedway was a hit with the fan's ,even Little Joe Freeborn worked the
croud handing out flyers ,,We also got our five minutes of glory when
at intermision we hit the track and did some hot laps in front of the
packed grand stand ,,What a RUSH the General Lee and yours truly went
at it and I was told later the crowd liked it. You had to be there our
small tractors in the pits with all the SOS Sprint and Stock cars, hey
but even those driver's gathered around to check out the racers. So
you can be there to on the 4th June for the first lawnmower races to
be held at Brighton Speedway. there will be some pix put up on this
site later.
The Old sod warroir
Test and tune day started off rain/snow/cold,,,,but then the sky
cleared and the day got of to some good track time and fixing,,later
had some good laughs watching the first Red Neck 500 2003 video. Ross
Nicol showed the underside of his tractor on his first test run.
Brighton Speedway race is closing in fast, we will be meeting with
track owner this weekend to sort out race format,,if you plan on
attending this race put your hand up and email me so we can get a idea
for what classes will be run.
Rod
Don't forget, racers, this Sunday at 1:00 pm a friendly get together
for racers and their family is being held at the Easton Raceway (ha
ha) in Bordenwood. The track looks pretty good, so even if you haven't
got your racer ready...or painted...come on out for a look see at this
years competition. The shop will be open to do repairs or soup ups.
This will be a good time to look at what is on for 2005 and get to
know each other.
I hear there's already a couple of grudge races lined up (go
figure).Let me know if you need directions.
The bar-b-que will be fired up and we have the beef. You bring
whatever else you want.
Movies for the kids will be available.
Donna
Please note that we where advised by the Speedway that there web site
schedule is incorrect for the lawnmower races. The date should read
the 4th June 05. We have made the change to the Oeltra site and it is
confirmed that we race the same date as the SOS Sprints, should be a
lot of fun and something new for the club.
Had a chance to see some of our racers this week, Team Small Engine (
Dave Postma ) has given the General Lee a complete make over for the
2005 season, looks real cool and FAST. The Nicol Team of Ross and Joe
have been hard at work building and additional mod's, Ross has his NEW
Stock Mod almost finished, he also has a Modified on the go, should be
interesting for this class for 2005. I'am also told that the Ottawa
area racers are putting together some new Super Mods and Open racers
and plan to be at the Test and Tune fun day. So have fun building and
pass on whats new to rev up the 2005 season.
Rod
check it out folks , thanks to Andrew we now have a new and improved
site. If you would like to see your racer featured on the site you
need to send a favourite pix to us to be included.
Hey folks and fellow racers, take a look at the schedule on the web
site , This is not all the race events for 2005 but it is a pretty
good start. Plans are also under way to put on a parking lot display
at the Corel Centre to let are presence be known, For info and your
help contact myself or Jason in Perth.

Congratulations to Jason Dowdall and his wife on the birth of their
newest family member. Hope mother and baby are doing good.
I understand the action started on their way home to Perth after
Jason won the open class at the ice races in Pembroke on Saturday.
Way to go.
