Due to weather and not enough interest, the easy pace tour from Guelph to Elora has been cancelled.  Instead, for those who are interested we will do a ride starting from Tim Horton’s at Walkers Line at 9 am.  Distance 60-75 km depending on weather and interest.

Hello all,

It looks like the weather is going to be less than great for the ride
tomorrow. However, the rain may not start until the after noon, the cold on
the other hand will be at the start point waiting for us. I am willing to
give the ride a chance. I would like to know if others are also willing to
try. Can you please e-mail or phone me and let me know if you would like to
do the ride. If a few people want to go then I will be there. If I get no
response then I will call the ride off.

Also, we are planning a ride on October 1 from Guelph to Elora which by then should be most spectacular in fall colours.  To gauge the interest level could you please email me if you are interested.  We would likely start at 10 am and have lunch in Elora before heading back to Guelph.

Hi Folks,

I have always wanted to do the Georgetown ride but it falls on the NOTL
Biathlon race day. Next weekend I am in Cuba riding on the surprisingly good
Cuban roads around Havana.

See everyone next Spring.

BTW: Did anyone ride in the "Stop the Dump" tour? Although I paid for this
event, I was sick that weekend and could not participate.

Regards,

Steve

Just to remind everyone that this Saturday the road ride will take place in
Georgetown/Geln Williams. We will be rolling through the Caledon hills and
this is a scenic and hilly ride. We will aim to do around 80-90km. If the
weather is good we should have a nice turnout. If it is raining then the
ride will be be moved to next Saturday. The start time is 10am and after
the ride we usually drop in the local pub for a beer and some tall tails.
Please visit the link for location details. If those who prefer shorter
distances and easier paces would like to ride the area I will prepare a
shorter route and we can have two groups. Please email me if you think that
you will be able to attend and at what pace you would like to ride.

I'd encourage everyone to consider participating in this ride.

Hello Triathletes, Mountain & Road Cyclists,

Attached is a link to the Tour De Force bike rally (50k & 100k)....a special event my Girlfriend (Darcie Pytel) is organising.  The rally (Not Race) is to provide awareness regarding the proposed quarry for mid-Flambourough, which will drastically impact the great cycling roads we currently enjoy.  In the quarry proposal, 1100 Tractor trailer trips / day are referenced !

There has been a lot of positive media attention towards the Tour so far, but Darcie needs more participants (40 + registered)....Catered BBQ Lunch (Harvey's), hydration (E.load) and all the other amenities will be supplied (Toilets, wash stations etc...).

It's going to be a great day and there are quite a few giveaways.  Currently, the following are confirmed with more to come;

1.      Mountain bike from NEWORLD Cycle

2.      Massages from Waterdown Massage Therapy

3.      Gift Cert. - Milestones

4.      Gift Cert. - Galaxy Colossus Theatres

5.      Gift Cert. - Foot Tools Specialty Running

Pls consider signing up (Papal or mail in).  If you are an athlete or cycling enthusiast who enjoys the north Burlington / Flambourough experience, you have invested interest in participating in this event !!

See you there !

Nathan Stewart

(Pls forward to everyone you feel may be interested)

Just thought I'd give you a quick update on Mark's progress. Earlier
this month he won his second Canadian Championship. This time he won
the Jr. Road Race. He also got a podium in the TT, finishing third.

Then it was off to the Tour d"abitibi. He won this as well. By doing
so he won the Tour's brown jersey. He also won the points competition,
the Orange jersey. Last year he won the Blue Jersey for top first year
junior. In doing so, he's become the first rider in this even'ts
38-year history to win all three jerseys.

As well with his performance at the tour he has moved up big time in the
UCI rankings. The rankings released on Monday put him in 2nd place in
world rankings.

Mark will be off to the World Championships in Belgium next week.

Not bad for a kid from Oakville.

Hello cyclists;

This is a quick reminder, that you are all invited to participate in
our friendly club race this Saturday, with two race levels as follows:
- 8:00 AM start: Members Race (non-elite cyclists) 51km (3 laps)
- 9:00 AM start: Elite Race (the fast ones) 68km (4 laps);

I just want to add, that for those who have never raced before, you
should try this race, as it is very friendly, lots of fun, and for
sure you will find somebody with comparable abilities to race against.
You do not have to win, just come out and make the numbers in the
peloton larger. You must have seen the Tour de France coverage on OLN
these days, so come out and try it for yourself. Both races are open
to members of other clubs. We will be handing out club memberships as
well, be sure to ask for yours.
The weather should be great, and then you can also get some delicious
fruit from the farm.

OCC President.
