RE: **OCC** Fwd: Transportugal 2005

Nice MTB race, but check this picture out, from the past...

PS: Looks like we still have people interested in our Saturday/Sunday 9:00
AM rides from Walker's and Hwy5. See you there, if it is not raining!
Tibor.

Calling all hammers
It is time to start thinking about your race agenda for 2005.

We suggest you come and race in Portugal. In its third year, the
TRANSPORTUGAL GARMIN is a unique mountain bike race that crosses this
beautiful country from North to South, covering 1200 km of remote (95% off
road) countryside over 11 unforgettable days.

You will not be expected to be part of a team. The race is between you, the
terrain and the elements. You will enjoy long days (often in complete
isolation) tackling all adversities under the fierce sun as it tracks across
the midsummer sky, far from everything and everyone. You will be totally on
your own, racing against a clock that doesn't stop, on a course unmarred by
flags or cardboard arrows. Your GPS (available at extra charge to racers
without one) gives you all the information necessary to find your way
through farmland and open mountainsides. A handicap system for riders
assures better racing, since older riders will have a little bit of a head
start.
No camping! At day's end, get all the comfort of a nice small hotel in a
beautiful village, plus the goodness and warmth of the excellent local
cuisine.

Transportugal Garmin is for you if you like to offset intense challenges
with a little luxury. This race was designed for racers by racers. Tough
men and women who seek adventure will discover an unmatched experience. It
is different, it is innovative, it is tough. It is in Portugal in 2005, from
23rd June to 3rd July.
