I am sending this notice to the whole group, as some of you
expressed an interest in trying a new ride out this Sunday.
I have tried it 4 times, and found it great. It starts at 9:00AM
from Scattolon Cycle, 1527 Upper Ottawa unit#20, Hamilton. The
number of cyslist's is between 30-40, so its a site. The pace
starts off at 30km/hr, for about 20km, as a warm up. They travel on
flat terrain, as the start is already from the top of the
escarpment, and goes either towards Grimsby (east), or Ancaster
(west). At this point they break up into slow (32km/hr) and fast
(35km/hr) groups, and go for a total of 65 and 80 km total ride,
respectively.
When they return, there is a great social aspect to the ride, at
DiMaggio's, where under the canopy you can enjoy beer and pizza for
$10 each.
Here is the Mapquest link to find the starting point, which you can
reach by going on QEW/403 to Link Alexander Hwy, and getting off at
Upper Gage, right to Stonechurch, where you turn left and then right
on Upper Ottawa, or go QEW over the Skyway Bridge to Hwy 20, up the
escarpment, right on Rymal Rd and right on Upper Ottawa. Lots of
parking for your car.
I am going to ride from Dundas at 8:00 AM with Barry, Mike Sharpe
and Ross, about 22 km to get there by 9:00AM. We are meeting in
front of Renaissance Restaurant at the corner of Governor's Rd. and
Creighton Rd. It should be a nice day like today.
Where is the 9:00AM starting point?:
