Dear City Clerk Kim Phillips:
I, a resident of Burlington (or Oakville, Milton, or other town in Halton - you need to live in Halton to submit this note!), would like to express my support for Burlington hosting the 2011 & 2012 Canadian National Road Cycling Championships. I feel that it would add to the life and prestige of the community and will be money well invested.
Your Name
Address
phone number
If you wish to speak (in support hopefully) at the Council Meeting please let Clerk Phillips know so in your letter. If you do speak please try to keep it short - say under a minute.
Before the council meeting we'll have a quick meeting outside the council chambers and afterwards we'll have a longer meeting of the organizing committee at the bar just south of City Hall.
- Canadian National Road Cycling Championships
- 2 weekends abutting July 1 in 2011 & 2012
- mix of individual time trials and road races
- the road race course will be between Aldershot and Waterdown utilizing Snake, Waterdown and North Shore roads - Lasalle Park, Aldershot would be start-finish
- a criterium in Downtown Burlington
- all levels of Nationals applicable road competitors
- want to add a major fund raising ride, internationally advertised, to the schedule of events - to maximize tourism spending and sponsor r.o.i.
- expected economic return to Burlington each year is around $700,000 + what the fund raising ride brings in

Many thanks!
