Dear OCC Executive (Bent Fink-Jensen, Joe Marangi, Mark Stuart, Peter Brough, Robert Narejko and Cladiu Tomescu):
As a member of the Oakville Cycling Club I would like to thank the OCC Executive for their caring excellent behind-the-scenes work. From being on the executive for the past number of years I know the amount of nurturing thought and effort (at events, rides and meetings) that you personally put into our club. Thank-you!
 
Dear OCC Members:
This is your club. A club's core strength and value comes from you, its members. You get out of a club what you put into it. This season come out to as many rides and events as you can. Volunteer at least once a month at a time trial/race event, and/or by helping lead a ride...a great reason/excuse (if you need one) for "having" to go for a ride!
 
Dear future Mountain Bike Chair:
Put me down on your schedule for helping lead at least one mountain bike ride per month (the first thursday of each month).

Fellow OCC Members

Last night we held our social evening and annual general meeting at the Kings Arms in Oakville and everyone who attended had a good time.  It was also a time to celebrate great performances and recognize those who have made a significant contribution to the club over the past year.  So for the record last nights winners were:

Road Racing:

-Women: Erin Kennedy

-Men: Steve Gentles

Mountain Bike:

  1. Greg Andre-Barrett
  2. Chris Blacklock

3.       Colin Reinholt

Most Improved Rider: Ian Chambers (Men), Lisa Wilkins (Women)

Stan Adams Trophy (given to someone who has devoted time and service to the club): Peter Brough

Award of Gratitude (given to someone on the executive who has devoted time and service to the club): Rob Narejko

Congratulations!

We also elected the new executive for 2009:

  • President: Rob Narejko
  • Treasurer: Joe Marangi
  • Secretary: Bent Fink-Jensen
  • Road & Time Trial Chair: Mark Stuart
  • MTB Chair: Available
  • Recreational Road Chair: Claudiu Tomescu
  • Membership: Bent Fink-Jensen
  • Clothing: Joe Marangi

During the  meeting we heard a number of good ideas for changes in 2009. These ideas will be considered and discussed at our next executive meeting.

Thanks to all for coming out and we look forward to seeing you all on the road and trails in 2009.
