Chris Blacklock and I had our day of being cycling commuter Stars this week. Special thanks to Cyclepath, who gave our names to the Star reporter who contacted them about doing a commuting article. Phil Moore (Cyclepath mechanic extraordinaire) is quoted about his "encounters" with cars while bicyling to work. The reporter contacted and interviewed Chris and me. Unfortunately she didn't include our comments about cycling commuters getting support/advice from their local bike store (Cyclepath), cycling club (Oakville CC) and race team mates (Cyclepath Oakville Race Team), or the need for more bike lanes and better transit support (especially during rush hours). The article also spells Chris's last name wrong and has our photo identification switched (I'm the better looking one in the front and Chris is the one drafting my rear wheel…however usually I'm the one chasing his wheel). The article unfortunately doesn't encourage more commuters, with Phil's comments about broken bones and the photo on auto busy Lakeshore…we had the photographer also take photos of us on the bike friendly Queens Quay in a bike lane with other cyclists…guess they wanted the image of two tough cyclists battling car drivers on cell phones! Chris and I ride in almost any day that weather and work permits, about 90k/100k round trip for Chris/me. If you're heading into Toronto leave your car at home and bike in with us. Instead of your car use your bike anytime you can. Reduce your carbon foot print and save the planet for our kids and their kids. TV sucks ride your bike!

Ps. Heard on the CBC that Toronto is adding 50km of bike lanes this year, 500km of bike lanes and trails next three years, and adding/expanding the bike lockers at TTC Subway stops. Great peddle strokes for our planet!
