The International Mountain Bike Association has named my favourite race an IMBA Epic Ride! This truly is an amazing epic ride or race with over 100k of excellent trails (mostly single track) through the beautiful Ganaraska Forest. This race is held in September. As well as the epic 100k there are also 15k, 30k and 60k race routes, so something for the whole family. As well as a ton of fun you can raise money (as I do) for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Paul's Dirty 100 began as a memorial ride for an avid racer, Paul Rush, who loved a long ride and a hard slog. Over the years, this 100-kilometer ride has been revamped and reworked into a challenging, but very ride-able, network of trails. Just over an hour's drive from Toronto, this Epic features more than 7,000 feet of climbing through the Ganaraska Forest, including pine plantations, rolling hills, twisty-turney dark corners and roller-coaster fire roads. On race day, the fastest riders roll in just under six hours, while those who want to savor the course might finish in 10 hours.
Location: Plan on a 90 minute drive, heading east from Toronto. Travel on 401 past Bowmanville. Exit at Highway 35/115 North. Travel 16km north to Kirby. Turn right (east) onto Durham Regional Road 9 (Ganaraska Road). Travel 10km to the first "S" bend in the road (Ganaraska Forest Centre sign on the south side). Turn left (north) onto Cold Springs Camp Road. Proceed to the Forest Centre.
Length: 100 kilometers.
Climbing: 7000 feet/2100 meters.
Terrain: Rolling.
