Check out the opportunities to help kids with cancer in the message below as a National Cyclist, National Relay Team, or Stage Rider. The stage coming through Oakville starts in London the morning of June 13 and stops in Toronto.

The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is being organized by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, a registered Canadian charitable foundation dedicated to creating a series of high-quality, physically challenging events that raise money for childhood cancer charities across Canada. Besides the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride, their events include Tour For Kids and The Inside Ride. They’re all volunteers, and make no use of professional fundraisers.

The on-line registration is found at www.nationalkidscancerride.com.

Hi Greg.

Thanks again for taking some time to talk about the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride that will cross Canada next summer.  I really appreciate the support in sending this to your fellow Club and race team members.

The ride will start in Vancouver on June 2 and end 19 days and 7,600km later in Halifax, having stopped at pediatric oncology centres along the way. One hundred national cyclists and 25 national relay teams will go the distance, while there will be major stage rides of 25-225km in cities across the country for people to participate close to home. All told it will add up to the largest charity cycling event in the world – with maximum proceeds to programs helping the 10,000 families fighting childhood cancer in Canada.

There are several levels of cycling.

National Cyclists … They will go the whole way, riding 24/7 in shifts from Vancouver to London. Then all National Cyclists do five single-day rides from London to Quebec, after which they resume their 24/7 shift riding until hitting Halifax. Registration is $3,995 with fundraising minimum of $12,500, or $1,000 registration with $25,000 raised. The registration fee covers a fully inclusive package that includes accommodation, nutritious meals, ground transportation (along route as required), massage therapy, mechanical assistance, four months of pre-event training through Can-Fit-Pro, special event gear, cycling outfits, street apparel and many other valuable benefits to ensure an exceptional and rewarding adventure.

We are looking to have all 100 National Cyclist spots filled by the end of January. The on-line registration is found at www.nationalkidscancerride.com.

National Relay Teams … These comprise 6-10 members and cover 10 stages across Canada. Registration fee is $4,995 registration with a $30,000 fundraising minimum. As with the National Cyclists, the Relay Teams will receive a wide range of support leading up to and during the ride itself. We will cap entry at 25 relay teams.

Stage Riders … Several stages in major cities across Canada. Registration is $75, with a fundraising minimum of $125. There is no minimum or maximum number of riders per stage – we want as many as possible for each one. The stage coming through Oakville starts in London on the morning of June 13, and stops in Toronto.

Lots more information can be found at www.nationalkidscancerride.com. As well you could click here to download the brochure and mini poster if you/your members have outlets where they could put them up. I can also arrange a courier of pamphlets if desired.

Thanks again for the support, Greg. I’d be happy to answer any questions and/or attend an OCC meeting to discuss if that were appropriate.

Best regards,

Steve
