Last month I sent an email letting you know I was planning to organize a bike tour of the Finger Lakes region in New York State during the week of June 19. The tour would be approx. 200 km long so it would be 3-4 days depending on what participants could agree on for average daily mileage. We would stay in motels or B&B’s and pay our own way with likely some opportunities to share costs. We would use one car to haul luggage between points so that we could focus on biking and sightseeing. The starting point is Geneva in New York State which is a 3 hour drive from Oakville.

 

Last week I drove some of the proposed route and was really blown away by the scenery.  It is absolutely spectacular with varied terrain.  Between lakes it is quite hilly while it is relatively flat along the lakes. There are many opportunities for sightseeing including the gorges of Watkins Glen in the State Park, waterfalls in Ithaca, the lakefront in Geneva, as well as opportunities to take a boat tour on the lakes and visit wineries along the way.  This will be a fabulous tour and you are all invited.

If you are interested in participating, could you let me know as soon as possible so we can start some serious planning? I would suggest a minimum of 6 people is required so I will likely make it available to non-members provided they have sufficient biking experience.
