Hudson, agent set deadline for deal
Sans extension, ace prepared to explore free agency

Oakland ace Tim Hudson, whose contract with the A's expires after next season,
said Wednesday that if he and the A's can't agree to an extension by March 1,
he'll end negotiations, play out the 2005 season and then leave the team as a
free agent. Hudson, 29, said he did not want to go through the media circus that
grips a team when one of its stars has an uncertain future.
