Why was Heillman pitching, anyway? He has always been a starter. A pitcher that
is used to pitching 100+ pitches every 5th day, may not be effective pitching 25
pitches every 2nd or 3rd day. I say that Heillman should start instead of Ishii.
Many people say that Looper should have STARTED the 9th. That's balogna. When it
was 5-1 in the top of the 9th, Zabrano should have hit for himself. He had given
up 1 run in 8 innings. Does anyone think that he would have given up 4 runs in
the 9th. HEY WILLIE: let a starter who is going well finish what he has started.
You don't have to copy Tony LaRussa and Joe Torre. The Mets don't have a Rollie
Fingers or a Mariano Rivera, or even an Armando Benitez (who usually was very
good from April til August.). Let Zambrano finish the game, you idiot.

Despite all the mistakes, the WORST was Heilman's walk allowing the tying
run to get to the plate.
No excuse for going 3-0 with 2 runners on and up by 4 runs!

ANYONE WHO WATCHED LAST NIGHT'S DEBACLE SHOULD REALIZE THAT IT WAS NOT ONLY
RANDOLPH, CASTRO, HEILLMAN, LOOPER, CAIRO, FLOYD, AND OFFERMAN WHO MADE
ERRORS. METS ANNOUNCER GARY COHEN, THE OFFICIAL SCORER, RICHARD NEER, THE
STAR LEDGER, AND OTHERS ALSO MADE ERRORS BY CALLING DUBACH'S DRIVE OF THE
WALL A DOUBLE. WITH 2 RUNNERS ON, ONE CAN'T BE CREDITED WITH A DOUBLE IF
NOBODY SCORES. IT MUST BE SCORED AS A SINGLE, WITH THE BATTER ADVANCING TO
SECOND ON THE THROW HOME.
lucky for me, i only got to watch this on my replay tv after i had known the
results, since i was not home. i have found the following method to be the
least aggravating way of watching the mets: record the game on replay tv.
every 10 minutes or so, watch the game in fast forward. if anything good
happens, review it at regular speed. this sure saves me a lot of grief.
BTW: HOW ABOUT THAT BELTRAN :-(
