Hi Sk8ers,

I own last years (2006) top of the line Rollerblade model, the Lightning TF and
I would like to sell it. The skates are size 12 and they still have the original
wheels on them, which are not even half way down to the core. That will probably
give most of you an idea of how often they were used last season.

You can also check out the attached picture if your not sure which skate I'm
talking about.

I will entertain any offer, but will likely refuse anything under $200.00 since
I paid $475.00 for them

Please contact me at daniel@...

Peace
Daniel

SMS is going to da Bronx! And da beach!

It's about 20 miles from Columbus Circle to City Island, so this will probably
be a one-way skate for many, if not all. Bring shoes if you think you'll take
the subway back.

Meet at Columbus Circle at 11AM. Bring helmet, wristguards, sunscreen, and
shoes.

We should get there before 2, and head back around 3.

Upcoming skates from the empireskate.org calendar:

5/27 - Jersey City, Liberty State Park, Bayonne Bridge, Staten Island
6/3 - Bronx River Parkway
6/9 - Jersey Shore Skate
6/23 - Coney Island - Mermaid Parade
7/8 - Connecticut Beach and Country Skate
7/22 - Brooklyn Greenway / Rockaway Beach Skate & Pool Party

More to come ....

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
Wife Swap Seeks Unique Roller Skating families!
WIFE SWAP, ABC’s hit primetime show, is casting unique ROLLER SKATING families
for Season 4. Is your family made-for-TV? Are you passionate about the way you
live your life? Do you love Roller Skating? Could you introduce a new
perspective to another family? We’re looking for you!
The premise of Wife Swap is simple: two moms from two very different families
get the opportunity to swap lives (but not bedrooms - everyone has their own!)
for a week to experience what it's like to live a different lifestyle - and to
see what they can teach another family about their own lifestyle!
Wife Swap is a fascinating story of what happens when two married couples see
themselves and their spouses in a whole new light. The New York Post says, "It
should be called ‘Life Swap’ because it's not just the wives who learn something
here. It's the families."
Potential families must consist of two parents and at least one child between
the ages of 6 and 18 living in the continental US. Families featured on the show
receive a financial honorarium as a thank-you for their time. Anyone who refers
a family that appears on our program receives a finder’s fee.
To apply please call 646-747-7947 or email Abby.Koocher@....

Taking an initiative to get new active, athletic non-skaters into our sport the
Central Park Skate Patrol is beginning a monthly Friday night skate for
beginners.

Here are the particulars:
Friday June 18, 2007
6:45 PM
Meet on the West Side Path at 72nd street (by basketball courts)

This will be a easy paced social skate led by Certified Skate Instructors from
the Central Park Skate Patrol.
We will skate the Westside Path south and then back to 72nd street. The skate
may last about 1/12 hours.

This is a free event open to all beginners!

Participants MUST have a helmet, wrist guards, and skates with a healbreak.
Unfortunately we can not allow participation without safety gear. We are insured
and this is a requirement of our insurance carrier. We recommend knee pads,
elbow pads, a blinkie, water, and a backpack to carry shoes.

Spread the word to your family, friends and colleagues that this is a great
opportunity to learn the basics of skating from experienced certified in-line
skate instructors while meeting new people and have a great time.

Skaters,

The time is NOW to enjoy the spring time with a fun skate. Once again, the
Empire Skate Club is having a hash/ bash.

What is a hash/ bash? Well, first you skate around the city to find clues of
where you are going. After the last clue, you will be directed to a party.
The theme of the hash is a secret, but the clues are all based on the same
thing. The location of the party is also a secret. It has been confirmed, we
are just not telling you where it is located yet.

The hash begins at 6:30 PM at Columbus Circle. The bash begins at 8:30 PM.

Set your plans around the first skate party of the year. We look forward to
seeing you at Columbus Circle next Saturday.

Hey Skaters!

Spring is springing, so it's time to dust off those skates and get ready to
roll! But, make sure you don't forget to dust off your legs as well!

Start the season with a bang this year, by participating in the Eddy
Matzger Roadshow in New York City, June 1-3. The Roadshow is an excellent
way to refine your skating technique, teaching you to skate better, longer
and (yes) faster! It is an intense weekend of drills, stretches and
exercises, on skates and off. Expect to work hard, and to feel it for a few
days afterwards. But in this short time, your limits will be stretched
farther than you believed possible. And, it's lots of FUN!

The Roadshow is an evolution of Eddy's famous workshops, for recreational
and speed skaters at an intermediate and advanced level who are interested
in skating better. You don't have to be a speed skater, or even want to
become one. (I did my first workshop on a pair of K2 Eclipse skates. Speed
skating happened to me later.)

Eddy Matzger is a world champion inline skater, many time winner of the
ultra-marathon Athens-to-Atlanta road skate and other races too numerous to
list, and a gifted teacher and communicator. His teaching technique breaks
down skating movement into small components, drill and perfect these, and
then recombine them into your new skating stroke. Eddy has given this
workshop to hundreds of skaters in dozens of cities across the United
States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

The cost of the Roadshow is $250. For that, you get over two full days of
instruction, a t-shirt, lots of other swag, goodies and prizes, and
bragging rights!

Eddy's website has lots of information about the workshop, including
registration, a description of the proceedings, lots of pictures:

Good ol' weather.com seems to have finally decided that it won't rain on Sunday,
so let's hope that we don't get fooled!

Meet at Columbus Circle at 11 o'clock for a skate - 20 miles or so at an
'intermediate +' pace. It will be a bit longer and (maybe) a bit faster than
last Sunday. We'll get back to the midtown area before 3.

Nothing is better to start the season with a relaxed Sunday Morning Skate.
Thank you Alan to make this happen - perfect weather, enjoyable route and great
fellow skaters!

Here is a link to the photo album of today's skate.

Which is rustier - you or your bearings?

Whatever your answer, you can do something about it this Sunday (March 25).
We'll try to keep the distance reasonable and the pace intermediate since it's
so early in the season.

   Date: Sunday, March 25
   Time: 11AM (until about 2)
   Place: Meet at Columbus Circle
   Bring: Helmets, wristguards

It looks like it will be a beautiful spring day - see you there!

Does this still happen in the city? They were so much fun, but I
haven't been to one in nearly 3 years. It's warming up, so wondering
if they're still around.

Hello Folks,

Kris Fondran, who some of you may know and is a board member of the
Inline Skating Industry Group, will be visiting NYC this weekend and
would like to skate Saturday afternoon. I will take her for a trip
around the city and was hoping some of you would be interested. The
weather looks great for Saturday, low 50's.

Please broadcast this message and I'll meet up at Columbus Circle at
11:00am.

If you will definitely make it, I will know to wait for you. Please
email me to confirm and keep my cell number handy if you want to hook
up on Saturday, but miss the start (973) 768-4200.

Be well,
Robert :~)

[An excellent way to promote safe skating fun in the Park and
throughout the NYC skating community. Please share with skating
friends. If interested, contact Paul Rankin directly at
prankin@..., or call him at 917-881-0266. -- Leo

WHO WE ARE:
THE CENTRAL PARK SKATE PATROL IS DEDICATED TO HELPING PEOPLE HAVE SAFE
SKATING FUN in Central Park. It helps skaters and general park users
enjoy the Park, teaches stopping skills and safe skating techniques, and
assists the injured. It is a wonderful group of dedicated skaters having
fun while doing good! You also get to meet new skaters as they are
starting to learn. The Patrol also assists skating events outside of the Park.

TIME COMMITMENT: Central Park Skate Patrol volunteers must commit to a
minimum of one four-hour shift per month, during the skating season,
mid-April to mid-October. Shifts run from 1 pm to 5 pm on Saturday
and Sunday. Occasionally there are special events outside of these
hours where you can earn "extra credit". We know that people have
lives and jobs and vacations, so it's a minimum average; if you are
traveling a lot on business one month, for example, do an extra shift
on another month. Of course you are welcomed and encouraged to do more shifts.

REQUIRED SKATING SKILLS: The emphasis is not on being an elite
skater, rather on wanting to perform a community service by helping
others, and being competent enough to teach the basics and set a good
example. You should be comfortable enough to skate a loop of the park
(6.1 miles or almost 10K) in about 45 minutes. We never race, except
maybe in an emergency. This is not a good time to practice speed
skating, but you should be able to get from point A to point B in a
hurry, if needed. You should be able to skate backwards in front of a
student at slow speeds on a shallow incline in order to offer
support, reassurance and guidance. You must have a heel brake and
know how to use it. You should also be able to demonstrate at least
one other type of stop, such as the t-stop or spin stop. Remember, we
are only insured to teach basic movement and basic stopping with the
heel brake, but as teachers, we need to be a few steps ahead of our students.

NEW PATROLLER CERTIFICATION WHEN: Sunday March 18th at 9:45am and
Saturday March 31st at 2:30pm. Choose one. WHERE: North Meadow
Recreation Center in Central Park at 97th St. - RAIN OR SHINE! BRING:
SKATES WITH A HEEL BRAKE - REQUIRED. HELMET AND WRIST GUARDS REQUIRED
ARE MINIMUM REQUIRED protective gear.
Bring a pencil or pen, too. The 3-hour certification is designed to
bring you up to speed on what we do on Skate Patrol, teach
procedures, etcetera, and do the necessary paperwork for insurance
purposes. It consists of introductions, watching a video produced by
the National Skate Patrol (NSP), and "class room" review. Then we go
outside with skates for the practical portion. This consists of
teaching you how to teach stopping using the NSP Instructor
Certification Program (ICP) teaching model. We'll take turns playing
teacher and student and learn how to teach beginners and correct
common mistakes.

QUESTIONS:
CONTACT prankin@..., or call Paul at 917-881-0266 to register
for the class. We hope you can make it on Sunday March 18th at 9:45am
or Saturday March 31st at 2:30pm. Please share with other interested
skaters. Thank you for your time and consideration, The Central Park
Skate Patrol is a fun, gratifying experience.
