GREAT WEATHER FORECASTED WITH HIGHS IN THE
EIGHTIES FOR THE FREE: NEW YORK CITY ROLLS WITH
THE EMPIRE SKATE CLUB OF NEW YORK, INC., SIXTH
ANNUAL BIG APPLE ROLL - BAR SKATE WEEKEND - BAR, AUGUST 15 - 17, 2008!!!

There will be much FREE GREAT SKATING FUN, AND
PARTYING, put together by our all-volunteer
skaters for skaters. It's an awesome three-day,
skate-weekend and party adventure in and through
the streets of NYC. City street skating, island
hopping, parks, picnics, dinner, dancing, night
life and of course Skate, Party, Skate, Party!

FREE, FREE, FREE, DID I SAY FREE? The skating is
Free. There is no registration fee, or
pre-registration required! BAR IS FREE! But,
REGISTRATION/WAIVER SIGNING REQUIRED. Sign up
during registrations periods FRIDAY FROM 3 PM TO
6:30 PM, AND/OR SATURDAY 8 AM TO 9:30 AM, at the
Skyline Hotel, 725 Tenth Avenue @ 49th Street, OR

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

We need volunteers because this is a FOR SKATERS
BY SKATERS ALL VOLUNTEER EVENT. The weekend is
for your fun, safe, healthy skating. SKATING
VOLUNTEERS needed to marshal, mark turns, help
with skate. SHOW UP AT SKATE GROUP-UP AREAS
FIFTEEN MINUTES BEFOREHAND for introductions,
instructions, route/turn sheet distribution,
special details, to help skaters sign waivers,
etcetera. SKATE GROUP UP TIMES AND LOCATIONS: See
Schedule below and final schedule distributed on-site for last minute changes.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR REQUIRED
REGISTRATION/WAIVER SIGNING, Schedule/Survival
Guide + Sponsor Goodie Distribution, tee shirt
sales, etcetera, show up at registration FRIDAY
FROM 3 PM TO 6:30 PM, AND/OR SATURDAY 8 AM TO

6:45 PM Friday Evening Skate: Social - Get

9:30 PM Casual Dinner, Drinks, Beer. At

10 PM Friday Night Skate (Advanced Skate). Only

Skaters Circle, 72nd Street in Middle of Central

between Cherry Hill and Bethesda Fountain.
2 PM Free Dance Skate Group Lesson.
2 - 6 PM Dance Skating with DJ.
3 PM Central Park Loop Skate, Starting
and End Points, Dance Skaters Circle.

man-made New York City Waterfalls from 90 - 120
feet tall, Grand Central Station, Times Square.
** Friday Night Skate: Fast, expert street
skaters only!!! Central Park Great Lawn's
spectacular vista, Mayor's Home Gracie Mansion,
Columbia University, Grants Tomb, Newly Paved Broadway, Columbus Circle.
** Saturday Morning Skate: WE'VE CLOSED PARK
AVENUE MAKING IT VEHICLE/TRAFFIC FREE FOR YOU!
Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall, Ramps/Banks to Play
on, Brooklyn Promenade + Fulton Landing Lower Manhattan/Wall Street Vista.
** Saturday Afternoon Skate: Rockefeller Center,
Queensboro/59th Street Bridge, Pulaski Bridge
Mid-Manhattan Vistas, Williamsburg Bridge, East Village, Madison Square Garden.
** Sunday Morning Skate: Fifth Avenue, New York
Public Main Library, Empire State Building,
Flatiron Building, Washington Square Park.
** Sunday Afternoon Skate: Free Group Dance Skate Lesson, and CENTRAL PARK!


FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO START A DAY EARLY:

THURSDAY EVENING SKATE:
August 14th at 7:00 PM, Columbus Circle Entrance
to Central Park, 59th Street + 8th Avenue.
* Fun, Easy-paced Social Skate in TRAFFIC-FREE
Central Park, Led by Certified Skate Instructors
and Patrollers from the Central Park Skate
Patrol, optional 5.2 mile or 6.1 mile loop. *
Approximately 1- 1 ½ hours skating time including
4-5 rest stops. ***IMPORTANT – You must be able
to skate and stop on your own, control your speed
going down long hills!! This is not a skate for
Beginners.*** SAFETY GEAR required, so bring a
helmet and wrist guards. Knee pads & elbow pads,
blinkie lights, water & backpack (to carry your
shoes, etc.) also highly recommended. are also recommended.
AFTER THE SKATE: Dinner and Drinks, MANHATTAN
BREWING COMPANY, AMSTERDAM AVENUE AND 76TH
STREET. Bring money for food and drinks and shoes.
