Sleepy Hollow Skate (Rain date Sunday, 10/29)   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1863 of 2215 |

Dear All,
With the chance of rain tomorrow currently forecast at 100%, it
seems like Sunday, October 29, will be a better bet.

Bundle up and join us for the last major road skate of the season,
as we chase down the Headless Horseman to the burying ground in
Sleepy Hollow. Enjoy spectacular fall foliage views along both
sides of the Hudson!

The route is 26 miles, taken at a moderate pace with rest stops
every 5 or so miles in about 3.5 hours. There are Metro North
stations about every 1.5 miles once we leave the city, so nobody
will get stranded if they have to bail, and there are bodegas along
the way for supplies.

Most stop for lunch in Irvington and return by Metro North ($6.25).
The hardier set sometimes chooses to skate back to the city at a
brisk pace.

We leave from Columbus Circle at 10am. Hope to see you there!
Jared.
