The Grape Eskate is on!!!
Welcome to the 4th Annual Grape Eskate… Come join your fellow skaters
through the North Fork Wineries of Long Island. We will be skating through
Mattituck, Jamesport, Laurel Lake and Southold. The skate will be 17 miles this
time around (there will be a shorter route for those less inclined). Time
permitting we will be skating an additional 7 miles at the end. Bikers and

Remember to dress warmly this time around, forecasts are low 60's and
sunny.

We will be stopping at 2-3 wineries, sampling is offered at each winery. We
will also stop at a deli to order food and we will eat at the winery.

By Train:
Penn Station: meeting time – 9:10 AM
Buy the tickets prior to getting on the train. ($14.50 @ the station, $20.00
on board – one-way)
Train to Mattituck leave at 9:20 AM. I believe the train will be to
Ronkonkoma with transfers to Mattituck (Greenport line). Please remember to get
off
at Mattituck; we have been getting off at Greenport in the past. Remember to
bring some food and drink, it is a long train ride.
Return train will leave Mattituck @ 6:39 PM
Driving –
Long Island Expressway (I-495) to exit 72 (it’s the last one). Follow the
exit to route 58. Follow Route 58 through the traffic circle. Route 58 will
merge into Route 25. Follow Route 25 to Mattituck. Make a left on Love
Lane (there will be a Waldbaums shopping center on the left just prior to Love
Lane). Train station will be on the left. Please allow plenty of time for
driving. Please meet at 11:15 AM.
Remember this is an Empire Event
If you are uncomfortable skating on the road with traffic, please use an
alternative method such as a bike. Helmets and wrist guards are required,
other
protective gear are strongly recommended. Please keep in mind that you are
skating at your own risk, and ultimately your own safety is your
responsibility.
