Subject: [Empire] Connecticut Beach Skate this SATURDAY 09/03
Hi Everyone,
Please join us this Saturday for the prettiest skate of the season in Wesport
,CT. The weather is going to be ideal as it usually is when we skate Wesport so
don't miss out on possibly the last great skate of the summer. Victor and Emily
may not be here this weekend,in which case Alan will be leading the skate and I
will back him up.This will be much easier than Nyack.
This is a fun and leisurely skate with an intermediate pace and we take a long
lunch break in the middle, in Fairfield. So bring your skatefriends. We always
finish on the beach,so don't forget your bathing suit and your frisbee. We'll
have a blast. You'll want to remember to bring your helmet and wristgards
!!!!!!!!!
We leave from Grand Central Station at 10:07 to the Wesport Saugatuck
station, but you may also catch it at the Harlem 125th st station at 10:17.The
round trip ticket is 18 $( well worth the chance to get out of of the city for
some beautiful scenery). You can also drive and I am including email from Victor.
Hope to see you there. Please remember YOU ARE SKATING AT YOUR OWN RISK .So let's
remeber to focus on safety.
Back by popular demand: “The Connecticut Beach Skate.”
now in its 10th year. Wear a bathing suit and bring
sun screen for one of the most fun skates of the
summer. Touring the Connecticut shoreline means smooth
in-line skating with a few exciting hills as the sea
air cools our hot bodies. This 22 mile skate is an
exciting but easy trip along the Connecticut “Gold
Coast” coast. We pass celebrity homes with wonderful
water views. The distance is roughly equal to 4 times
around the central park loop so you should be
comfortable skating on roads. We will stop to swim so
wear or bring a swim suit, small towel, sun tan lotion
and lunch money. And there’s no excuse for not
bringing all your fun-loving friends. They can ride a
bike if they can’t skate.
The skate is free and starts about 11:15 AM after the
Train arrives at the Saugatuck station.
If you want drive, the Westport train Station is just
off Interstate 95, Exit 17, right, then left. We meet
on the South side of the tracks. Parking is free on
weekends.
We usually finish skating and swimming by 5 or 6. Some
head back to NY but remember Longshore Country Club
has the best Top Shelf Margaritta’s in the East. You
can enjoy the sunset and/or rent a sailboat or kayak.
Trains head back to NY every hour till midnight.
Meet at Grand Central Station’s Central Info Booth
(42nd & Park Ave.) at 10:00 am.
Catch the 10:07 train to Westport’s Saugatuck Station
(New Haven line).
Round trip train ticket is $18.
Please wear a HELMET & WRIST GUARDS
