Hello Skaters,
Fox 5 has rescheduled the skate segment for this Friday. Please email
me if you will be able to make it. You will need to be at the band
shell in Central Park at 6:30am and we will be done just after 8:00am.
I need to know how many people will be participating by end of day on
Wednesday.
Penny will be interviewing and showing us in her morning show throughout
the 7:00-8:00 hour and everyone who comes will be on TV Friday morning.
This is a great opportunity to promote the various skating venues,
styles, clubs and events and I am looking forward to seeing a good turn out.
If someone has an extra pair of woman's size 8 skates and padding that
Penny could use, let me know.
We could use cones set up to give a demonstration, let me know if you
can bring them.
It would be nice to show some examples of the various kinds of skating:
- Dance
- Roller Derby
- Aggressive
- Recreational
- Speed
Plan, in detail:
Penny Crone of Fox 5 Good Day New York will be doing a segment on
skating in New York City and has invited all of us to be a part of it.
She would like to show us strutting our stuff and interview us about skating in
NYC. She also wants to try on a pair of skates and is hoping we can help her
get on her feet with them.
We need to meet at the band shell in Central Park this Friday morning (June 3rd)
at 6:30am. We will first meet Penny and the Fox team, prepare for the segment
and then at 7:00, Penny will give a live show for 30 seconds to tease the
audience. There will be a few more quick (30 second) spots over the next 45
minutes and then the hour will end with us.
Please email me if you would like to attend. I will be speaking with Fox 5 on
Wednesday afternoon to confirm that we have enough people to make this spot
interesting. I expect at least 25 and perhaps as many as 100 (or more) of us to
show up.
I found out that Penny wears a size 8 woman's shoe. If someone could bring an
extra pair of size 8 skates with them and if someone could also bring some extra
pads for Penny, we can get her fitted up and rolling with us.
It would also be good if we could get some cones set up to give a little
demonstration. The camera will be on us, so let's give a good show.
Again, email me if you are interested in attending and please pass this message
along to anyone who might like to attend (we all know who those hams are).
This is open to all skaters, inline, quad, aggressive, dance, speed & derby.
Please pass this message on to all of our NYC skating friends.
Be well,
Robert :~)
