Dear in-line skater,
BIG APPLE ROLL WEEKEND JULY 29-31 2005
The Inline Planet ( http://www.inlineplanet.com/ ) says:
The Big Apple Roll is a three-day weekend skate adventure through the splendors
and excitement of New York City. The tour cuts through the spectacular urban
canyons; lingers in the green jewel of Central Park; goes island hopping; and
even rolls through the electronic wilderness of Time Square! ... And that's just
what you'll do during daylight hours! ... If you register early, you'll also be
eligible to win one of three pairs of Lightning 6 Rollerblades, which the
company has donated to the event. (The Lightning 6s are fitness skates with four
90 mm wheels.)
We will be drawing the first of 3 pairs of Rollerblade skates this Monday from
one of our registrants, so be sure to register today for your chance to win at
http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1203733
The Skyline hotel is fully booked for the weekend and is honoring the block they
reserved for us, which still has some availability. We have another nearby
hotel, The Edison Hotel, available for the overflow at a slightly higher rate.
Hotel information is available at our website http://www.bigappleroll.org/ by
clicking on the "hotel info" link on the right side of the screen. Mention the
Big Apple Roll when calling the Skyline Hotel to receive our group discount
rate.
The schedule will be posted on the website shortly. Highlights of this event
will include a beach skate to historic Coney Island, a unique experience through
Central Park, Times Square, the Village, Little Italy, China Town and many other
NYC sites.
There will not be a marathon along with the Big Apple Roll this year, but we do
plan on having an unofficial race. More on this at the event.
For all those who have attended in the past, you know the high quality of food
and services we have always provided. Every skate has a sag wagon with plenty
of water. We usually offer fruit and other foods along the skates and our
dinner and picnics themselves more than pay for the registration fee. We are
happy to report that we have not increased the fee, we expect to out-do previous
years and the participation fees are:
Empire Members: $55
Non-Empire Members: $65
Day of: $85
