Come out to Governors Island and play on a grass field. We had a
lively game of 6's last Sunday, and we've got plenty of room for more.
Take the 11 a.m. ferry to Governors Island. Bring your friends and pack
a picnic. Bikes are welcome on the island--there's a 1-mile car-free
loop. The island has a no-pet policy (for more info, visit
www.govisland.com)
To get to the ferry in Lower Manhattan, follow the crowd to the Battery
Maritime Building, Slip 7 (just north of the South Ferry to Staten
Island).
Bring lots of water, because the available water from faucets on the
island isn't potable (you can buy bottled water and food from a vendor
on the island, but it gets expensive). Bring a dark and white shirt, as
usual. And cones if you've got them.
Ferries back to Manhattan run every hour on the half hour (12:30, 1:30,
2:30 etc. so you're not stuck).
