My apologies to anyone getting this more than once, but it's critical to
get this out to as many people as possible. If there's anyone you know
who you think could use this information, please forward it on.
It has come to my attention that the registration rules for the UPA
series have changed significantly this year. In the past, there were
always two deadlines, an early and a late. If you got your bid in before
the early deadline, the roster would count towards the size bid. If you
didn't make it though, you could sign up by the late deadline (which was
very close to the date of sectionals) and still be eligible for the series.
Now, however, there is only one deadline, and that is August 24th at 5pm
MOUNTAIN TIME. That means 7pm our time. If you try to sign up at 7:01,
you'll be out of luck. From my experience last year with last-minute
registrations, I would highly suggest you not leave this to the last
minute. When the deadline approaches, the UPA's computers can get
overloaded and break down, and if your team doesn't get registered
because of it, the burden of proof is on you, not them.
Here are few fine details of the registration rules, followed by a link
to the full rules on the UPA site. Feel free to ask me any questions.
TEAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
-All teams that want to participate in this years Club Series MUST
submit a valid roster(7 players minimum, unless granted a college
extension) via the online rostering system by August 24th. There is
no "Late Deadline" buffer anymore. If your roster is not in by August
24th, you don't play.
ROSTER DEADLINE:
-Teams must finalize their roster by the Tuesday before their Sectional
event.
-They can drop as many players as they want between the Team
Registration Deadline and the Roster Deadline.
-They can add up to 7 players (regardless of how many they dropped)
between the Team Registration Deadline and the Roster Deadline.
