The good news is we have a permit and the 2006 Summer League will be on.
This year it will be an 8 week season. (Last year was 9).
Truth be told, there was an administrative meltdown in the Parks and
Recreation department and many many leagues/sports groups will not be
getting their permits this year. So, we are lucky.
In brief:
The permit secures All Sundays in May, July and August and Labor Day 2p- 6p.
Please note that a soccer clinic is scheduled for the Sundays in June (so an
alternate location may be needed).
*The Official Summer League will start the weekend after the July 4th
holiday and run consecuetively until Aug 27 (weekend before Labor Day).
*Timing is 2p - 6pm
*Dust Bowl in Central Park (Dirt Field at 99th st and 5th Avenue)
*This league is for Adults (18 years and up only).
*Hopefully we will have numbers to support 6 teams and two games (to 11)
like last year.
*Registration will be in mid June (online) look for emails after Memorial
Day.
In the meantime, I encourage some to come forward to Captain. Co-captains
worked well last year. Also, a one night draft worked well..no
cores/pre-selected teams.
In the meantime, enjoy playing and be fearless in the face of picnickers,
soccer players and all others - we now have a permit!!
Please email me if you are interested in (co)captaining. Email me with
unique questions. I will not answer emails that can be answered by the
missive above.
Summer is on its way! Catherine
