Dear NYPUL,

IMHO...you really can't play the game of Ultimate without a stall. If there is no stall players would hold the disc for as long as it takes to throw a completed pass and the game would move very slowly. I am a captain in the WSL "B" League and we address this problem in a better way. First, we teach beginners the proper stall count and how the stall count should be performed. Then when a new player or true beginner throws a turnover during the game we allow the disk to be returned to the thrower and give that player a second chance at the throw. Once that player becomes comfortable with the rules they no longer get the second chance. Good luck!
