AMIR LOPATIN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT: REGISTRATION   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #397 of 858 |

A few points that have come up:
1. Easter: I apologize for setting the game on easter. I did not
realize that when I set the date, and the date was chosen because it
is the sunday closest to when Amir died. I hope this does not
inconvenience too many of you, and that you will be able to make the
game even if you have other obligations that day.
2. Payment: Several of you have been nice enough to email me, asking
me when you would get a paypal request. I have been sending them out
to people who registered in the first 48 hours, when the web page had
a small glitch with the paypal part. It would make my life a little
bit easier, however, if those of you who have registered but have not
yet paid, were to go back to the amirlopatin.com site, and click
through the registration (you will not have to register again). This
will bring you to the paypal icon so that you can submit payment on
your own.
"Can we pay at the Game?" Sure. But I would REALLLLLLLLY prefer that
you paid in advance becuase it is
a. sucky and unsafe to walk around nyc with too much cash.
b. much easier for me to make sure that costs are anywhere near
covered by having payment in advance.

3. Disks: People who want a disk and can't make the game should
register (and pay), and note thatthey just want a disk in the text
section. In so far as this is possible and we have enough disks, we
would be happy to oblige. If we do not have enough disks, and there is
a strong interest, we can consider making more.
4. Walk-on's: If we have the numbers to make this work, I am very
much in favor of limiting the game to pre-registrants. This would
help keep the flavor of the game more in line with a "memorial
tournament" (which I think many of us are aiming for, and is important
to me as his brother), and less of a "pick-up game", which I am all in
favour of, but for which there are 364 other days.

I greatly appreciate the thoughts, coments, and questions many of you
have shared with me since this project has begun. Please feel free to
keep them coming.

Peace,
Uri Lopatin
