never biked beyond the five boroughs but I'd imagine a Path train to NJ
would be the way to go. After that, I'm lost.

An alternate idea is to do a bigish loop from Wall St to Coney Island up to
Central Park and back to Wall St. Not sure how ambitous folks are.

I can't speak for everyone on this list, but I prefer to go for longer
rides. Also, on nice weekend days Central Park tends to be terribly
crowded, thronging with rollerbladers and joggers and other bikers, so
it's almost a hazard and hard to get a good steady pace going.

But then, part of the point of this list would be that it would grow
large enough to accomodate a wide spead of biking styles. Another
colleague expressed interest in the list, but he's at the other end of
the spectrum, such a fast-paced biker that he didn't think he'd find
his biking peers here.

Hence, again I urge you all to spread the word to other cyclists in
the industry.

I have crashed only once in that same time, on a serious mountain bike
ride (on a borrowed bike). I can only imagine what kind of danger he
was on wheels when he was still drinking.

BTW, I'm not going to be available for a ride this weekend, so feel
free to organize amongst yourselves, if anyone's interested. And also,
please help get the word out. We need to grow the size of this list if
we're going to really have fun with it.

I've got to leave in about 20 minutes (it's now 11:15am Sunday), as I
left my bike at the office, so if anyone still wants to suggest
another ride schedule, this would be a good time (I meanwhile have my
work computer at home, so I won't be checking email again from the
office).

Unless someone wants to suggest otherwise, I'll assume we're meeting
at the southeast corner of Union Square at 1pm.

Do you mean the Coney Island trip makes you nervous because of the
street riding?

For those who don't know it, the Coney Island ride from Manhattan
involves getting over the Brooklyn Bridge, then a couple of miles of
street riding (or less) in Brooklyn to get to Prospect Park, and from
there it's pretty easy to get onto Ocean Parkway, which has a
relatively quiet access road that parellels the busier street in the
middle of that road, which leads all the way to Coney.
