DRINK THE YELLOW SNOW!

What
The premier of the Suds on the Slopes Beer Festival, a celebration of the spring release of 25 of the regionšs premier craft brews.

When
March 29 & 30, 2002
Noon to 10 p.m. Friday
11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

Where
Mt. Hood SKIBOWL West Side at Government Camp, Ore.

Costs
Admission to the festival is free; a 2002 souvenir mug, required for tasting beer, costs $3. A full mug of beer costs $3; a taster costs $1.

Description
Although it takes place outdoors (and yes, we do expect snow on the ground!), the festival will feature warm and cozy covered tents that are filled with heat producing gas-stoves and fireplaces. The event includes food, vendors and live music. Other on-going activities include night skiing, snow tubing, an adventure park, snow mountain biking, a downhill micro-beer relay, and a pond skimming competition. The event will also be the staging grounds for the 2002 Brewers Winter Games.

Breweries
Bill's Tavern; BridgePort; Collaborator; Deschutes; Elliot Glacier; Full Sail; Golden Valley; Hale's Ales; Ice Harbor; Laurelwood; Mac & Jack's; Mt. Angel; Mt. Hood; New Belgium; New Old Lompoc; Portland; Pyramid; Raccoon Lodge; Rock Bottom; Rogue; Sierra Nevada; Tuck's; Walking Man; Widmer Brothers; and Wild Duck.

Highlights
The premier of the 2002 Brewers Winter Games, an event within an event that is a fundraiser for Locks of Love. The Brewers Winter Games will take place on Saturday from Noon to 5 p.m. adjacent to the festival grounds, and will feature friendly, non-aggressive competitive events between brewers. Scheduled events include "Dunkinš Beernuts" (a beer-filled dunk tank); "Which Way to the Kegger?" (a full keg roll around obstacles); "Mash Dog Relay" (fill three 36-gallon trash cans with spent mash, then hand-truck to the finish line); "Hoop Keg" (similar to the game "Horse" but players spell out "Ale" while shooting an empty pony keg into a modified basketball hoop); "Good Afternoon, My name is Jack London and Išll be your Waiter" (quickly carry and serve six pints of beer though an obstacle course without spilling); and the "Iditakeg" (4-man togoggan teams).
