COMMERCIAL MEMBER FEATURE
After three years of research and development, Inca Snowboard has been
marketing their unique snowboards for almost one year, and already has one
patented snowboard feature with more patents coming. Don Stubblefield
founded the company as a result of his efforts to design a snowboard that
responds to his tall football player's build. Don was one of the featured
speakers at the January NWSCC Council Meeting and brought a couple of their
boards to illustrate the enhancements that Inca is bringing to snowboards.
The Dual Camber(tm) provides additional flexibility that translates into
increased edging while carving turns.
Improved edging reduces skidding, particularly on ice, and gives the rider
with more control of the board. Currently, Inca snowboards are sold in
three Oregon stores including Sam Bennett Sports in Portland, and the Bend
Ski & Boards. Watch for Inca Snowboard's upcoming demo days at Timberline
and Mt. Hood Meadows.

SNOWSPORT REGIONAL AND INDUSTRY NEWS
Snowlink.com's Donate-a-Ski/Board Program
What does everybody do with his or her old skis, boards, boots, ski clothes,
and gear? Instead of taking up space in garages, attics, and closets why
not donate your used and/or outgrown gear.
Snowlink.com's Donate-a-Ski/Board program collects used skis/boards and gear
and then distributes the items to charitable organizations around the
country. Organizations such as Special Olympics and Snowboard Outreach
Society are two of many organizations that benefit.
The program runs from early October through December 31, 2001. Granted,
this article is too late to take advantage of 2000's tax year, and is early
for 2001, but we can start thinking about an opportunity to help others.
To participate, individuals take their donations to specific retailers who
will accept the items and provide a receipt that can be used for a tax
deduction. G.I. Joe's, U.S. Outdoor Store, Mt. Pilchuck Ski & Sport, and
Northwest Snowboards are just a few of the Oregon and Washington retailers
participating in this program.
Ski clubs may want to arrange a club event around collecting donations and
then shopping for new skis/boards and other sporting goods at one of the
participating stores.
The Donate-a-Ski/Board program is sponsored by Snowlink, Outdoor Life
Network, and COULOIR Magazine, and is conducted through SnowSports
Industries America. For more information call (800) 639-2761 or check
www.snowlink.com. Please remember to mark your October calendar for
donations.
Mt. Hood Museum
January's NWSCC Council Meeting included Jim Paustian's update on the
development of the Mt. Hood Museum. Jim is the Treasurer for the Mt. Hood
Museum Fund Raising Committee and reported that efforts are underway to
secure a site to build the museum. The Committee has accumulated numerous
Native American artifacts as well as over 1.1 million photographs of
Timberline and the surrounding area. A fundraising event is planned for
the future, but in the meantime an entertaining as well as informative
poster showing the Mt. Hood, Timberline, Government Camp, mountain features,
and much more (placemat size) is available for $10. The poster is actually
a reproduction of an old placemat that the Committee found. These placemats
are available at Three Sisters Coffee.
