It's SKI SHOW time in Portland!! We are looking for club volunteers to staff the NWSCC booth. All clubs in NWSCC are welcome to have club flyers/brochures in the booth---even if they do not have volunteers for the show. All the details below. BOOTH DETAILS--------NWSCC is BOOTH #131 (subject to change at last minute):
10' x 10' booth space, back & side drape, 8 foot table, two chairs, carpeting. Typically, we like the booth set up with the table up against one side of the booth---so that people can actually walk into the booth---the table should not be sitting horizonatly in the booth and we do not want volunteers behind the table. It's easier to engage people if the booth has that open feeling.
Booth space is reserved for only those clubs who have paid dues in NWSCC---any club can have their flyers at the booth. Remember---we only have an 8 foot table to share with all the clubs for NWSCC---please be conscientious of how much club material you bring. Somehow, it's all got to fit on one table----and hard telling how much stuff we'll have until we all get there. Clubs usually bring a flyer or brochure about membership, and/or a flyer listing your club activities (please do not bring separate flyers on all your trips----takes up too much space). If room for photo albums, they may be used also. If you have any of those nifty plastic things that stack up and consolidate the holding of flyers---great!
Working in the booth is fun---you get to tell people all the great reasons for joining a ski club. Volunteers will represent NWSCC as a whole and ALL clubs of NWSCC (not just your own club). You will speak mostly on behalf of the Oregon clubs, but remember there are some in Washington as well. You will promote the benefits of joining a ski club in general (great trips, make new friends, see new places, etc), pass out flyers on club membership/trips, and pass out NWSCC Skiers Directories and NWSCC related flyers. You will find even if you are not that well-versed on all the clubs and such, that it's pretty easy & fun to answer questions (and you can find alot of the answers in the Skiers Directory!).
MOVE-IN:
Move in begins Tuesday, October 28, 8:00 am to 10:00 pm; Wednesday, October 29, 8:00 am to 10:00 pm; Thursday, October 30, 8:00 am to 10:00 am. NWSCC board members will basically decorate the booth on Wednesday night. Clubs just need to drop off their flyers/brochures during these hours if they want their materials from the opening of the show. Many clubs may not bring their items until Sat afternoon or so----when someone from their club works a shift. The people working the first shift, and thereafter, will arrange the table---it's a work in progress as more club stuff arrives. We do the best we can with all that shows up. I will personally be at the show setting up on Wednesday night about 7:00 pm.
MOVE-OUT:
Move out begins Sunday, October 26, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Each club needs to make arrangements for the removal of their club items (or talk to Mary Olhausen).
ADMISSION TO SHOW:
Volunteers in the NWSCC booth will get FREE admission to the show, the day of their shift. You may arrive when the show opens and leave when it closes, working your shift in-between. Admission to the show is only possible by me FAXING your names to the show management ahead of time. I'll need all the volunteer names no later than October 13th. Please provide to me, your full name, club name, phone numbers, and email address. You will pick up your badge and/or ticket at the WILL CALL DESK (located at the front entrance). PLEASE do NOT pick up any other volunteers' badges----only your own. Your club ID badge will be critical when picking up your show tickets.
BADGES--NAME TAGS:
Entrance into the Expo will be smoothly facilitated IF you where your club badge. PLEASE make sure you wear your club name badge at all times during the show.
PARKING:
Parking is not paid for volunteers.
