Cooper Spur--We Need Your Help!!   Message List

As most of you know, Mt. Hood Meadows purchased the little Cooper Spur Ski Area, and  now wishes to make some housing on the PRIVATE LAND in the vicinity of  the present Cooper Spur Inn.  So far so good.

Enter the environmental extremists who seemingly oppose most everything, and who will be addressing the Wasco County Planning Commission on the evening of January 22nd.  Dave Riley of Mt. Hood Meadows asked if we could get together some skier types to speak in behalf of the Cooper Spur resort, to counter the environmental group.  What with our present organizations, the Northwest Ski Club Council, and its member clubs, we should be able to fill a bus or two on the Wednesday evening, Jan 22nd, for a little jaunt to Hood River, and put on a real show for the Planning Commission.   Hopefully, we will overwhelm the xtremists with numbers.
From what I can gather, the Planning Commissioners will not speak, and each attendee who wishes to speak must register beforehand, and is allowed a maximmum of three minutes at the microphone.  It was suggested we run some busses from Portland, and Riley & Co offered to pick up the bus fare.  We need to have some idea of who wishes to board which bus.  Call in your reservations to the Meadows office:  503-287-5438.
Check the website www.friendsofcooperspur.com.  It lists 10 reasons for the improvement.  You might get some ideas to air to the Commissioners.

Thank you!
