NWF News: TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 2000
<<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>><<>>
We are less than two weeks away from the Nittany Wrestling Federation's
next free-per-view spectacular, "Pain State University" which is
scheduled to take place Friday, March 24th, at 8 PM, in the White
Building in State College, PA.
There are some important changes to the card since the last NWF
Newsletter came out two weeks ago. The main event for "Pain State" is
now scheduled to be a special tag team ladder match with NWF
Heavyweight Champion Tommy Golden and University Park Champion Fumar
taking on the team of "Too Phat" Yutzak Arafat and "Livewire" Dave
Desire. Both titles will be suspended high above the ring, and the
stipulations for the match state that Arafat and Golden must try to
pull down the Heavyweight Title, while Desire and Fumar must try to
pull down the UP Title. Whatever team member retrieves the proper belt
first will win the match! This is a very unique match to say the least,
and the possibile outcomes are very intriguing.
The NWF has also announced the opponents of NWF Tag Team Champions
"Sterling" Rick Silver and "As Seen on TV" Joe Rules. The pair from
Rutgers will be taking on "The Damned", which consists of Draven and
Praxxus. Both Draven and Praxxus made their NWF debuts at the last
event in singles competition, and this will be their first go at it as
a tag team inside of an NWF ring, but they have tagged together on the
indy circuit regularly so they will not be easy opponents for Silver
and Rules.
Also slated on the card Don Juan Desanto will now take on "Maniac"
Jimmy Deo. The two had been scheduled to team up together to take on
The Damned in a tag team match, but they now find themselves fighting
each other in what should be an interesting encounter. Desanto is very
agile for a big man, with his top rope moonsault being a big part of
his arsenal. But as we all know Mr. Deo is a great proponent of the
"old school" style of wrestling, and he has been on a winning streak in
the NWF.
In another match that was added to the card Powerhouse Hughes will take
on Colonel Massacre. As you may recall Hughes was supposed to wrestle
Hentai at the last NWF event, but due to Hentai's injury and also some
technical problems with Hughes that match was not able to take place.
However the NWF offices have confirmed that Hughes and Massacre will
both be making their NWF debuts at "Pain State."

KEEPIN IT REAL...VINNIE MAC IS BACK
by B-Real
YOU KNEW IT ALL ALONG DEPT.
The stage was set for one of the most long awaited returns in wrestling
history. No Stone Cold didn't hand out any Stunners, and The Undertaker
is still MIA. One Vincent K. McMahon reemerged from his self imposed
banishment and aided The Rock in defeating The Big Show, allowing Rocky
to keep his career and participate in the main-even for WM 2000. Yeah
it may have been a little obvious and contrived to us smart marks, but
the live crowd ate it up with a spoon and a smile. Vince's return not
only allows Rocky to headline a card that would have suffered with TBS
in the main-event, but it stokes the fires for more McMahon family
civil wars, as well as arousing interest in a Stone Cold return to
television. Shane chastised his dad for allowing Austin to run
roughshod over the company; now that Vince has returned will Steve be
far behind to prove his dominance? The buyrate will be exceptional
either way, but the slightest hint of Austin involvement could propel
it past last year's high numbers. Hopefully we will get to see Vince
cut one of his legendary promos, and explain his actions in full. The
man has a knack for adding drama and suspense to an angle, which is
something the overly long running HHH/Rock feud needs in my opinion. He
has some unsettled issues with The Coalition, specifically HHH and
Stephanie, and things could become very interesting in the next three
weeks. Possibly look for some interesting stipulations for WM, with the
obvious being no-disqualification for the main-event.
PAUL E...WHAT HAPPENED?
I am not quick to question anyone's judgment, let alone anyone with a
proven track record for great booking, but why in the world was Dusty
Rhodes put over "King of Old School" Steve Corino at Sunday's Living
Dangerously PPV? Dusty can not have much more of a future in ECW, and
the word on the street is that he may be gone as soon as the month of
March passes. So why would he get a relatively dominant win over the
future of the sport? At least have him drop the match by screwjob, and
still give Corino "the rub" in the process. Steve is really solid in
the ring as well as on the microphone, and he has one of the brightest
futures in the sport in my honest opinion. Seeing him live and in color
last Friday at the IWA show in Reading, I can honestly say that he is
the best right now at getting a crowd riled up. Call some of the stuff
cheap heat or whatever you may think it is, the truth of the matter is
that he gets the job done. There are few heels left that can draw
genuine heel heat, and Corino, along with his sidekicks Jack Victory,
Tajiri, and Rhino are among them. I just can't understand his jobbing
to Dusty Rhodes, who could only muster an elbowdrop during their match.
No doubt that the man is a legend, but the fat lady has been singing
for awhile now. Let us remember you the way you were...before it's too
late.

wrestling training, go to http://www.angelfire.com/pa/Saturnbomb/cruel.

R.I.P MAE YOUNG
If this thrashing of Mae Young by Those Damn Dudleys continues, they
might end up becoming faces. Did you see the crowd urging them to toss
her off the side of the stage? I can honestly say that Mae Young has
taken more bumps in her stay in the WWF than Hogan did in his tenure.
Can you believe that crazy old broad? Aspiring wrestlers could take
lessons because she has taken all of her bumps relatively well, and she
is 77 years old for God's sake! Hopefully that will be the last we see
of her, because I have no urge to see a Moolah/Mae grudge match at WM
2000. Mark Henry looked pitifully slow in his match with The Dudleys; I
guess Jim Ross was right in those Ross Reports, the man needs to lose
weight or improve his cardio, because he was blown up like a
Thanksgiving Day float. I would group him with Val Venis as people who
need to have their characters tweaked or repackaged, because they are
getting as stale as those chips behind your couch.

now only my compilations are listed, but I have over 80 PPV's and
