Nittany Wrestling Federation presents:
VERY INTENSE PUNISHMENT
Results from Monday, April 17, 2000
5:30 PM - HUB Lawn, Penn State campus
FREE ADMISSION

State College, PA - Very Intense Punishment, the final card for the
NWF for the Spring 2000 semester, was held in the HUB Ballroom on the
campus of Penn State. On a night that the WWF's Raw is War returned
to central Pennsylvania, the NWF warmed up the wrestling faithful
with some great action. It was a night of champions as the NWF
Heavyweight Title and Tag Team Titles were on the line, and it also
featured the presentation of the first-ever NWF Achievement Awards.
The winners of these awards were chosen by fans on the NWF website
and presented throughout the show.

This was a short show that featured just two matches and went about
an hour, but unlike a lot of wrestling today where matches are over
in only a few short minutes, both of the matches were allowed to
reach natural and satisfying conclusions. The first match was for the
NWF Tag Team Titles. "As Seen on TV" Joe Rules tagged with a newcomer
to the NWF, Kid Crazy. Rules, who had been presented with awards
for "Best Tag Team" along with Rick Silver, and also individually
for "most-hated wrestler," promised that if he and Kid Crazy won the
tag gold that Crazy would be inducted into the Rutgers Revolution as
a member in good standing. Their opponents were supposed to be the
champions The Damned. However Praxxus suffered an injury, and tagging
with Mad Dog tonight was an old friend of his, Don Juan Desanto. The
match was a hard-fought tag battle, and Kid Crazy ended up taking
most of the punishment for his team. But "The Kid" hung in there and
pulled off some sweet high-flying moves to give his team a chance.
Included in those was a "lionsault" and ascending moonsaults among
other things. He was overpowered though by the bigger Desanto and Mad
Dog, who worked well together and did quite a few double team moves.
Rules managed to get his fair share of punishment in on his
opponents, but while he was brawling outside the ring, Kid Crazy got
pinned. Rules re-entered the ring and then attacked his protege Kid
Crazy, leaving him looking up at the lights on the ceiling and out of
the Rutgers Revolution.

Following that, more award-winners were announced. "Pain State
University," which was held on March 24, was named event of the
year. "Match of the Year" was awarded to the participants in
the "Nittany Ladder Match" at that card as well. It was a tag ladder
match involving then-University Park Champion Fumar and then-NWF
Champion Tommy Golden against Dave Desire and Yutzak Arafat. The next
award was for "Manager of the Year" and that was given to State
College's favorite panhandler, Mr. Wendal. Mr. Wendal, clothed in his
usual attire of torn sweatpants and stained white t-shirt, asked if
his award was worth anything, but he did thank the fans for voting
for him. The next award was presented for "Best Finishing Move" and
it went to NWF Champion "Zero Gravity" Mason Cage for his "Zero
Gravity" Shooting Star Press. Cage ripped on the fans, saying that he
didn't need them to tell him that he had a great finisher. He said
that he was one of only four men in the United States to be able to
execute the Shooting Star Press, and then he demanded that ring
announcer Dr. Dave Parry present the final two awards for "Wrestler
of the Year" and "Most Popular NWF Superstar" to him. Parry said that
indeed, the two awards went to the same individual, and introduced
that individual as Cage's opponent "Too Phat" Yutzak Arafat! This
enraged Cage who destroyed the two awards and then proceeded to
attack Mr. Wendal who was still at ringside. Finally Arafat emerged
from the locker room and the match between the two former friends was
on!

The NWF Heavyweight Title match was a best two-out-of-three falls
match. The first fall was fought under regular rules, and not long
into that match Joe Rules made his presence felt, appearing at
ringside. Thankfully "LiveWire" Dave Desire, who had just arrived
minutes before, was there to even the odds and got into a brawl with
Rules on the outside as the match between Arafat and Cage raged on
inside the ring. During the pandemonium, Mason Cage dragged Yutzak
Arafat's valet Camel Candy into the ring and was going to attack her,
but Arafat nailed Cage with a chairshot. Even though he saved his
manager from being injured, Arafat's chairshot caused the first fall
to be awarded to Cage by DQ and allow him to take a 1-0 advantage in
the best-of-three falls match.

The second fall was a submission fall, and was a back-and-forth
encounter. Both men pulled out a large array of submission moves from
their arsenal. Cage at one point had Arafat locked up in a Boston
Crab and a Sharpshooter, but each time Arafat was able to break out
of the moves. Arafat worked on Cage with the Allah leglock, a Camel
Clutch, and then in a move shades of Bret Hart, put Cage in a figure-
four ringpost that caused Cage to extreme in excruciating pain.
Finally Arafat was able to even the match at 1 fall apiece when he
made Mason submit to the Camel Clutch. It was also during this second
fall that the battle between Rules and Desire continued, but Rules
was able to take Desire out of the equation when he hip-tossed Desire
onto the hardwood floor of the HUB Ballroom. Desire landed awkwardly
on his shoulder, and he had to be helped back to the locker room and
would not be seen again from that point on in the match.

The third and deciding fall was a Nittany Street fight that saw the
action go all over the HUB Ballroom. At one point Arafat and Cage
battled atop the stage, and Rules tried to repeatedly throw powder
into Arafat's eyes but on each attempt failed as Arafat moved out of
the way. Finally Arafat knocked out Rules and then he set up Cage on
a table. He put Cage through the table and then he entered the ring
and passed out right in the center. The fans all wondered if in
putting Cage through the table that Arafat had injured himself in the
process as he continued to lie motionless in the ring for what seemed
like an eternity. Meanwhile off towards the stage, Mason Cage began
to slowly come to his senses. Lying in a pile of broken table Cage
began to craw along the floor, dragging the table with him as he
tried to break free from the tangled mess. After reaching the ring,
finally Cage freed himself of the table and then slowly and
cautiously entered the ring where Arafat was still down. But when
Cage approached Arafat, he was surprised by the challenger who
executed Da Bomb out of nowhere to win the final fall and once again
become the NWF Champion! Arafat had been playing oppossum the whole
time and a furious Cage was thrown out of the ring. Arafat celebrated
his title win with Camel Candy and then he thanked all of the loyal
NWF fans for a great two semesters of wrestling and for supporting
the NWF throughout the course of the year.

Pictures for this show will be on the NWF website within the next few
days.

*** SPOILER - SMACKDOWN RESULTS - SPOILER ****

account courtesy of Sister Midnight:

"HHH was then interrupted by Tazz, who came out to a huge pop,
wearing the ECW World Title belt. There was a loud 'ECW' chant. Tazz
challenged him to a match tonight, and chastised him for not taking
his loss to Jericho like a man. HHH accepted the challenge of Tazz,
and then mentioned the ECW title by name, and acknowledged the chants
of the fans. HHH said he was going to show all the fans that chanted
those three letters, why ECW sucks and why the WWF is great.

"Tazz then took on HHH with Stephanie. The crowd saw Tommy Dreamer in
the aisle way, and cheered for him. Tazz was in control early, then
HHH. The fans popped for near falls by Tazz. He locked in the
Tazzmission at one point, but HHH escaped. Helmsley was about to
Pedigree Tazz, when Dreamer got up on the apron. HHH shoved him to
the floor, so Dreamer grabbed a chair and got in the ring. He swung
for Helmsley, but he ducked, and Dreamer accidentally hit Tazz by
mistake. HHH hit a Pedigree on Dreamer on the chair, then covered the
unconscious Tazz for the win. Helmsley left, and Tazz eventually got
up, picked up the ECW belt, and left. Dreamer followed Tazz out."

MONDAY NIGHT RATINGS
WCW took a tumble in the ratings war after a strong initial showing
by the "New Era" last week and a very well-received "Spring Stampede"
pay-per-view.

RAW pasted Nitro, with the highest-rated of 7.7 came during Linda
McMahon's announcement of Stone Cold's participating at "Backlash" in
the corner of The Rock. The overrun featuring a six man tag with
Chris Jericho and Triple H also drew well, garnering a 7.6.

The bottom dropped out on Nitro during their overrun which drew a
measley 1.7 while going up against Linda McMahon's announcment. The
Nitro overrun was used to hype the Hogan-Kidman feud.

WCW should not throw in the towel just yet, as it took WWF months of
putting on superiors shows to the WCW before they were able to regain
the lead in the ratings war.

Quarter hour ratings were:
Raw -- -- -- -- 5.9 6.7 6.0 6.3 7.7 7.0 7.1 6.8 7.6
Nitro 2.5 2.8 3.0 3.2 2.2 1.8 2.3 2.1 1.7 -- -- -- --

BIG SHOW & KURT ANGLE INVADE PSU
by Justin Cryder

So I was walking into the Hetzel Union Building on the campus of Penn
State University at 4 PM today to help set up for the Nittany
Wrestling Federation's free wrestling event later that day at 5:30,
and then I go to walk down the steps into the food court area and I
see a crowd of people and some guy standing in the middle wearing big
yellow signs, including one that says: "Oral exams, not oral sex" and
he has a bullhorn and is yelling stuff about celibacy.

Now being at a college, immediately I am thinking ok, just a bunch of
crazy protestors, not something that is entirely out of the ordinary.
But then I walk down the steps and get a closer look at the guy...
and it's Kurt Angle!

A camera crew from WWF is present, and they are filming a skit that
would later appear on Raw is War. So I go down the stairs and take a
look at what is going on. They do this shoot at least 10 times, where
Kurt is yelling into the bullhorn about "celibacy is the best
policy." The finished product that you saw at home probably only
lasted 15 seconds, but it took a long time to set up the shoot and
get it exactly right for the WWF staff. They had some minor
difficulties trying to organize the onlookers so that it looks like a
normal day of classes with everyone walking around.

At about this time I walked to a different portion of the HUB and see
a large man sitting down at a table and eating ice cream. It's the
Big Show! Apparently he had been there for awhile, and he had been
bothered by a lot of people throughout the course of eating his ice
cream so I thought it best to not get under the skin of the Big Show.

I walked back over to the filming again and after a few more takes of
the same skit with Kurt, the Penn State cops came and they were
giving the WWF crew a hard time about shooting in the HUB. Apparently
they did not have a permit or something.

This prompted NWF promoter Alex Abrahantes to step forward and he
approached the Big Show and offered the WWF the use of the ballroom
upstairs that the NWF had rented for their free event a few hours
later. The Big Show informed the the producers but the producers were
able to straightened things out with the cops and keep their prime
filming location. The cops stayed and supervised for the rest of the
shoot.

The whole ordeal prompted Big Show, who was done eating his ice
cream, to quip, "This university makes how much money from us being
here and they are giving US a rough time?"

Throughout the whole shoot Big Show sorta stole the show just like he
did on Saturday Night Live. Anyone who thought he was putting on a
big act was wrong because the guy is really that funny and hilarious
in person. In the middle of all of the shoots he would always have
something funny to say that would crack up the crowd on-lookers.

The next skit that was shot was of the couple making out, and Kurt
Angle interrupting them. This one took a long time to get right too,
as the crowd could not keep from laughing when Kurt delivered the
punchlines. And Kurt himself forgot what he was supposed to say.

The last segment was two shots stuck together. It was the segment
where Kurt Angle was talking to this group of kids about celibacy and
then the Big Show appears with a hat of blown up condoms on his head!
He is throwing a bunch of condoms in the air and meanwhile he is
surrounded by a bunch of kids like he is giving out candy or
something. The kids that had been around Angle run over to The big
show. I don't know how well this turned out on TV, because when Big
Show was throwing the boxes of condoms in the air one of them came
down and popped one of his "balloons" and ruined his hat. From what I
saw on the Titan-Tron on RAW it looked like they cut out any visual
of the Big Show and all you could hear was his voice. I guess it was
a spot that got ruined and they did not want to go back and fix his
hat.

I took some pictures of this shoot, and I hope to have them developed
and online in the next few days so check back with Indigo Radio's
Website (http://1indigo.simplenet.com) in the meanwhile!

Dark Matches from RAW:
* Dupps d. Posse - either the Dupps got pops because people knew

the crowd was really HOT for a match that was average. This caused me
to quip to NWF Announcer AJ Acosta "wait until Taka comes out they
will probably chant 'boring' for him."

* Taka d. Vincent Goodnight - sure enough they did chant "boring"
for Taka's match but it wasn't because of anything Taka did. The guy

SANDMAN WRESTLES IN TWA
Sandman got himself disqualified in the 4 man tournament at TWA for
the championship last night, which of course, is Shawn Micheals's
organization. He lost to Venom, who HBK fought 2 weeks ago, but later
helped Venom lose in the finals against Shooter Schultz. By the way,
Shooter is one of the wrestlers who was signed under a developmental
contract for the WWF.

Keepin It Real...Tazz and HHH, plus more!
by B-Real

There has certainly been a shakeup in the world of wrestling since we
last met. Turmoil and surprises seem to be the norm, and I for one
love it.

TAZZ TAKES OVER ECW!?
As you all know by now, Tazz took the ECW title from a departing Mike
Awesome last Thursday in Indianapolis. Not a five star classic or
anything of the sort, it was still a huge moment within the industry.
A WWF wrestler defeating a WCW wrestler in ECW. Who could have
predicted this just one year, or even one month ago? Not me that's
for sure. While it is a great achievement for Tazz, the pessimist in
me believes that this was simply a chance for the WWF to take a
potshot at WCW in their rebuilding stage. Why else would the WWF lend
a competitor one of their rising stars in the middle of his push? Did
they think that this would get him more over with the casual crowd,
who wouldn't know an ocean cyclone suplex from a Dairy Queen
Blizzard? Highly unlikely. It seems that this has also made somewhat
of a mockery of the ECW belt, which was headed for ridicule anyways
if Awesome showed up with it on Nitro. Either way the belt looks
tarnished, as its holder can't even find a way to upend Crash Holly
in a gimmick match. I guess I take all of this stuff too seriously,
but I hate to see another title become meaningless to the public,
especially when it is one of the only ones that used to matter to
anyone. It looks like the WWF comes out the winner in this
transaction, with ECW gaining some more PPV buys with a Taz title
defense, and WCW gaining a top-notch athelete who, given the
opportunity and with microphone improvement, can become a household
word. Let's face it folks, matches with DDP and Kevin Nash are higher
profile than squashing Spike Dudley a hundred times in a row. Let's
see WCW put talent put to use the right way for once.

HHH REMAINS THE GAME...AND WE ALL HELPED HIM DO IT!
It's been a long, strange trip for the man labeled The Game, from
jerking the curtain to main-eventing WM2000 in just 5 years.
Throughout it all, HHH has maintained a high level of arrogance,
whether as a pompous blueblood, a bawdy authority challenging
degenerate, or as a combination of the two. Whether we liked him or
not, and even when we didn't give a rat's ass about what he did, he
parlayed hard work and an alliance with Shawn Michaels into superstar
status. During his punishment for the MSG incident, he was severley
depushed, and it seemed that he was in danger of falling off the face
of the wrestling planet. During this time, his entrances were met
with a pindrop, and I don't even remember him getting any promo time
at all. In my opinion, that just made him work harder, motivating him
to become the champion that he is today. He knew he wasn't going to
get any help from the office, so he planted the seeds to the
character that he is today, the HHH we all love to hate. As you can
probably surmise from this column, I have been a HHH fan throughout
the hard times, and I respect the man's wishes in booing him as he
wishes to be booed. This is the lone man that aspires to be a true
heel in this day of cool bad guys, and I could not applaud him more
for it. He made the sacrifice of merchandise sales, a huge part of a
WWF worker's salary, and ran with the ball, all the way to the top of
the game. Now that he has the office behind him, not even a mega-star
like The Rock has maintained enough momentum to unseat The Game. I
don't think I can stress his accomplishments enough, but I'll let you
all be the judge of his achievements. Let me know what you think of
HHH.

That's it for this week. Don't forget to check out my page for tape
trading. Either I have it and you want it, or the other way around.
Surf on over and find out.

Peace
