Hey Tammy,
This is pretty cool. I don't know if I'll get the chance to meet up
with him though. I thought it was interesting that runners are only
permitted for run 1 mile with him, and runners are responsible for
bringing their own food, water, etc. That seems like a bit much for a 1
mile run. ;-)

Also, don't be afraid of us. None of us are super-fast, and although
I'm sure that some of the Wahoos! will tell you that we go too fast on
the long runs, for the winter it seems like we will be headed indoors
for a track workout. That way, at least nobody can get lost.

Hope to meet you some time!
~Kate

Vicki,

I only lead the Bellefonte Saturday runs.  I think Jerry is leading the State College Saturday runs.  If you post our Saturday runs on the calendar, then maybe once a month the Road Raiders can come to State College to run with Jerry.

Vicki,

Yes.  Go ahead and post those times for Tuesday & Thursday  around 5:30 pm at Rec Hall  by the rear stairs facing Burrows St. inside the building on the calendar.  Once I can figure out what workouts we will be doing at least the group will have a reminder that there is a workout still on Tuesdays.  Thursdays is when we usually run longer miles weather permitting.  When it gets super cold we run indoors.

I'll let you know when I whip something up :)

Thanks.

Denise, et al,
Jerry asked me to put in the calendar to remind everyone that you will meet at rec hall at 10am every Saturday.  I wanted to know if I should also put that on the calendar for every Tues and Thurs at 5:30 as well? This would send reminders to everyone. I just want to verify that is ok, so this way people don't show up with no one to lead them.

Thanks!

Hi Guys!

Sorry, I've been busy all morning and didn't get the email out about tonight's run.  The plan is that we will be meeting at Rec Hall around 5:30 at the rear stairs facing Burrows St. to do a 3 to 5 mile run around campus.  5:30 is easier for most of us so we can get home at a decent time.

Hope to see you there :)

Oh my gosh, did I say 7pm??? I meant 6pm, I'm sorry guys.  Wrong key!!!

6pm is optimal b/c I'm doing the last washboard abs of the day which ends at 550pm.  This applies to all weekdays.  That would give me time to get to Rec Hall.

Sorry about the confusion.  Let me know if 6pm is viable.

I know we all agreed to 5:30 on Tuesday. If you guys want to move to 7 that's fine with me, but I won't be able to make it then. I think we should stick to 5:30 since that's what we all decided on Thursday.

Brian, is 5:30 an issue for you every day or just today? Maybe we can look to moving the time if we get together again next week. I think we usually just treat it as a majority rule situation.

Thanks,
Jess

at Rec Hall. I'm hoping we are running inside since I didn't bring warm

Grace,

Sorry getting back to you late.  I had so many emails to answer and this got missed :(  Where can I find that picture of us running up the hill to the Iwo Jima hill?  I didn't see it.  Yeah, it's hard to believe that we were still smiling clear to the finish line!

I am so glad that we found each other and ran the marathon together!  I had so much fun and I know that was the most relaxed race that I'd ever ran!  We just took it mile for mile and had a fantastic finish!

Thank you so much for all the tips of cutting the corner short to save distance and energy :)  I have really learned a lot from you.  You are the best!!!!!!!!!!!  I never even thought about how many miles we were actually running, just had the mind-frame that we were just doing a long run.  LOL...........

It does make a difference when you have family, friends and the crowds of supporters there to cheer you on.  What a mental boost!

How did you feel the next day?  I only had just very little tenderness in the hamstrings/calves and on Tuesday I didn't even feel like I ran a marathon.

See you soon!
Denise

You ran a great first marathon! I looked at the video Kelly took of us at Mile 23 - we both look very strong at that point - which is pretty amazing for any marathon!!! The clip is only about 10 seconds long, but when I get a moment this weekend - I will down load it and put it on a disk for you to remember part of the day!

BTW - did you see our picture as we were coming up the Iwo Jima hill? I'm high fiving the marine and you and I are both smiling! Hard to believe we had just run over 26 miles!!!

I also want to thank Christine, Bob, Kelly, your husband and Dennis for being out at the various locations - it really picks up your spirits to see friendly faces along the way. Christine really lighten my run by taking my shirt and gloves for me!!! I felt 10 pounds lighter!!!

OK Denise - one last question - have you picked your next marathon yet??? LOL

Talk with you soon,

Hi Wahooers!

The MCM was amazing!  John Wilcock and his family, the Rice family, Dave DeGroote, my husband & myself met up at the Olive Garden for a nice meal the night before the marathon and we had a great time.  Sorry Tom that we didn't get to see you, but Dave said that he saw you the morning of the marathon.

I reccomend this marathon for first time marathon runners!  The course is great and the support from the marines and the locals there are awesome!  Best experience of my life :)

There was a mix up with Dave's BIB number, so he doesn't show up yet.  I think that he said that he broke the 4 hour mark.  He can tell you all everything when he see you this week :)  My official chip time was 5:24:15.

Congrats to everyone from the NVRC who ran the MCM this weekend!

Thanks for your support everyone :)

Hey Brian,
Do you have any idea when you might get there? We will certainly try to
wait for you now that we know you are coming, but since it's getting
dark much earlier now, we have been trying to be diligent about our
leaving time. Sorry we missed you last week. It's too bad that you
didn't stick around since we were just running loops around the park,
and the first one only took us about 10 minutes. We probably would have
been back shortly after you got there.
See you tonight,
~Kate

Wahooer Marathoners!

Congratulations to all of you that ran MCM.  That was my first (and thus far only, 2005) marathon and I also thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Anyone thinking of a spring marathon??  I could be convinced that it is a good idea.

 You are the best!

Denise

Denise -

Grace

Congrats Dave and Denise on what I'm sure was a strong finish at the
marathon yesterday! Hope it was a memorable time for you! Also
congrats to the other NVRC members who finished, although I don't know
who they all are.

Happy recovery:)
