Runners:
A few Saturday runs and a Sunday run are now posted at
http://www.nvrun. com/groupruns. html, bringing the total to four. We
may get more before the day is out. There are still some details that
need to be flushed out on a couple of them, and the weather is being
uncooperative, so check back on the web page or email the
point-of-contact.
Saturday, February 2: Denise and Denephews / A Whole Mess of
Miles
(1-2) Denise Weaver of the
Bellefonte Road
Raiders will be leading the runs in Bellefonte this Saturday. Weather
permitting there will be two runs in Bellefonte for the Road Raiders. Our
two runs will be a repeat from two weeks ago when it was so cold. The
first run will be the 4 mile Herbie's Hometown Loop beginning at 8:30
a.m. from the Bellefonte Middle School. The second run will begin around
9:15 a.m. from the middle school to run a 9 miler out Airport Rd. to
Route 64 then out to Home Delivery Pizza and back to the Bellefonte
Middle School.
(3) Dave Moore would like to get a whole mess of miles (20+) in this
weekend. He's still trying to plan a time, route, etc., and a lot depends
on the weather. If you're interested, email Dave at
davemoore34@ gmail.com, or
watch the NVRC Discussion Group.
Sunday, February 3: Sunday Mountain Run
(4) Frank Zaffino wants to run at about 8 AM at Tussey Mountain. I'll get
some more details out as soon as I get them, or you can email him at
zaffinofrank@ yahoo.com.
We are looking for an organizer for each of the Saturdays into dead of
Winter. All it requires is for you to let us know, show up at Rec Hall on
the appointed date, and choose a route. Email Marty Mazur at
mxm14@... if you can help! Here's
the schedule so far:

We are going to have a "Fat Tuesday" run this Tuesday night!! Please forgive me for not knowing the correct name of the "Tuesday before Lent!!" But Pam S. and Kim G were talking about it at the "after run" scones making day, today!! It involved DONUTS!!
Hey, I think I can handle that!! We are going to meet at Rec Hall to run either outside or indoors depending on the weather!! We have been doing an abs workout on Tuesday nights!! Don't worry we
aren't canceling the ABS workout....we will just have the DONUTS after the run and ABS workout!! Hope some of you can make it!!
We meet at 5:30pm at Rec Hall, indoors on the steps just inside on the side of Burrows street!!
Please, fill me in more about this "special Tuesday" !! I am not familiar with it, but would like to hear more about it!! Thanks!! Have a great weekend!!
Your running buddy,
Christine
Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
Good Afternoon fellow running buddies,(before you start reading this note, grab a hot cup a something and sit back and enjoy, it may take awhile to get to the end of this note!)
At 8:30am we started at the middle school to run the Faith Centre "new course" 5K. We had in attendance: Denise (she is like the mail carriers, rain, slit, and snow! can't stop her from running!!! Way to go Denise!!), Bob R. (who did a great job running in this "cold snowing weather!"), and myself. We had a visitor before we took off on our "little" run!! Dennis M. showed up to say "Hi", he is looking GREAT!! Dennis, don't over
do!!! We are so proud of you for getting right back into things!! I am soooo glad to hear you are doing better!! (Dennis is recovering from a minor heart attack with 100% blockage in one artery!! What a blessing he is doing so well!! We are thankful!!)
Well, we let Bob get a head start on us this morning!! And it was a little slippery on the roads at that time!! They weren't cleared off yet!! But we managed to scale the hills and "slide" down the other side. We were very careful!! It was fun running in our own personal "Snow globe"!! I was just glad know one took us to shake and turn upside down and back again to get a better look at
the falling snow around us!!! Hee, hee, hee!!!!
We ran passed some little children in the Development (around the half way point on the course) can't remember the name of the development. Bob was behind us and the children (ages 3 to 5 years old!) told him they liked the tracks that Denise and I were leaving behind us!! It was probably Denise's "Yacks" that they enjoyed!! The tracks for them look like "little" bugs with antennas!! Very cute!!
Then we "Raced off" to fast and missed Kim G. at the Middle School to go run with us at Pam's House!! But she was able to make it thanks to Mr. Scott, who gave her great directions!!! Sorry we missed you Kim
G.!!
So the gathering at Pam's house was as follows: Kim G., Kim D., Pam S., Mark S., Denise W., Bob R., and myself. It was a nice turn out!! We ran the 8 mile loop around the area near Pam and Mark's home!! It was beautiful......We had fun trying to encourage the cows and horses to run along with us, but they just tilted their heads at us like "What are you crazy two legged creators doing?!" Kim G. was very kind to them and they still didn't respond well!! Maybe next time!! The loop had
rolling hills or I like to think of them as small speed bumps!! Kim D. and Denise really kicked some "Snow Covered" hills with a steady and great determination!! They are GREAT hill runners!! Pam and Kim G. were ahead of us and it looked like they tackled those hills just as hard and determined to "BEAT the HILL" .
A great quote from a great running friend of ours, Joe Shuta!! I think of him when I see Hills. Especially when I don't think I can make it up them!!
Everyone made it back to the Scott's house in one piece!! Then we had a great cooking lesson from Pam!! WE made scones together!!
And Pam had such a wonderful brunch ready for us when we finished our run!! I think I drank all her coffee!! OOOOPS!!! It was wonderful after that cold run!!
Thank you Pam and Mark for having us over for the day!!! And for teaching us how to cook are own scones!! I would like to give out the recipe, but I will get in "Big Trouble" if I give it out!! You have to come join us on a run to get the recipe!! They are so good!! Now we will
have to go run another 8 miles sometime this evening to run off the scones and brunch!! Well, OK, I probably won't, but I SHOULD!!!
We missed those of you who couldn't come join us this weekend!! I hope to see you soon!! Thanks everyone for your perseverance and encouragement with the group!!
P.S. It will be one year since the Bellefonte Road Raiders started up in Bellefonte in March. March 10, 2007 was our first run. We should put together a little party to celebrate the success of the group!! We are so thankful for all who have come to run with us!! We can't wait till the weather warms up and get to see some of you
again! It is very hard to run in the cold weather!! I totally understand that!!! We couldn't have a running group if we didn't had such wonderful running friends come out to join us!!! You all make up the group!!
I guess I have rambled on long enough hopeful most readers got this far into the "little" note that I wrote!!! Have a great weekend!!! See you all soon!
Hi fellow runners! (sorry about the duplicate emails)
We have been doing a lot of double runs on Saturday mornings...short one first then a longer one!! We are doing the same thing this weekend sorry this is getting out to everyone so short of notice...I forgot to do it when I got home last night! And have been busy taking care of thing today!!
But anyway, We are meeting for an 8:30am run from the middle school to do a 3 to possibly 4 miler than car pooling to State College to run from Pam Scott's house in Lemont! She lives on 124 Peach Court. WE are planning on doing a 8 to 10 mile loop around near where she lives!! We are meeting at Pam's house around 9:45am to start our run
from there!! Again I am sorry about the late notice =:( Hope everyone is doing well and we see ya soon!!
For tonight's workout we can decide if you want to just run a few easy miles around the Rec Hall track or we can do a 45 or 50 min. tempo run with striders. It will be group's choice.
The group will be meeting at Rec Hall at the back stairway around 5:30 p.m.

Hi Everyone! I guess that the smart runners decided to stayed in their nice warm beds this morning dreaming about warmer weather, while a few of us die hard runners ventured out into the bitter cold with a little tail wind to run a 4 miler and then another 9 miler. Our die hard runners for this morning were: Marisa, James, Pam, Kim D., Bob, Christine, Kim G. and Denise.
Marisa (a.k.a.), James a.k.a.) and Bob (a.k.a.) did a
SUPER Job this morning running the Herbie's Hometown Loop! Keep up the great work! The rest of the female runners decided to run the 9 miler and boy was it cold! Kim G. (a.k.a.) cut her run short because she is still recovering from a injury. Christine (a.k.a.) tried to tackle the cold, but the cold beat Christine.
When the other three reached Home Delivery Pizza
for their water stop Kim D. (a.k.a) discovered warm steam coming out of a vent from behind the building of Home Delivery Pizza. Pam (a.k.a.) was laughing at Denise (a.k.a.) & Kim (a.k.a.) because they were taking turns warming their behinds from the warm steam before back to the middle school. What a adventure! goes out to Bob & Christine for making waffles, coffee & hot chocolate !
I want to thank everyone for coming out in this very bitter cold morning to run.
We had a wonderful turn out for both runs on these nice "Cool" day! For the first 4 mile run we had Pam S., Denise W., Marisa M., James B., Bob R. and myself.
Second run we had Denise W., Kim D., Kim G., Pam S., and myself (at least for some of the second part, I didn't make it the whole way )
We paired up pretty good! It was a slow start to get us warmed up! I think, about half way through the "herb's home town" loop everyone was starting to get feeling back
in parts of there body that had gone numb at the start!!!
Marisa way to go!! I got such a wonderful report on your running this morning!!! Keep up the great job!! Also, heard you may be interested in running a marathon with us!!! WOW!! That would be wonderful!!
James, way to hold yourself back and not over do!! Thanks for keeping Bob company and encouraging him!! He doesn't like this kind of weather to RUN in =;( I don't understand way??!! Hee, hee, hee!! I am glad it went well with you!! Please don't over do yourself!! We enjoy seeing
you!!
Denise what can I say? Well, keep up the wonderful job as co-leader!! I appreciate all your help and encouragement!! You did a great job running today!! Slow and steady!! Thanks for the snacks at Breakfast!!!
Kim D., our "little" tornado. She won the persistence award for today!! You are an encouragement to me. Thanks for coming out to run and to have Breakfast!! Plus, helping to keep me going on the run as long as I could stay!!
Pam S. you are soooo amazing!! I don't know where you get all that
energy...??!!! But we are all soooo proud of you!! You are going to do Great at Boston!! Thanks for letting me borrow a pair of tights for this morning!! That helped a lot!! What was I thinking?? 60 degrees instead of 16 degrees?!! OH, also thanks for the puppets for my "numb fingers"!! They had fun on the run also!! They were catching my drippy nose!!
Kim G. we are always happy to see you come along...I was happy Pam was able to run with you!! Please take care of yourself...we like to see you on Saturday mornings also!! We will keep you in prayer for recovery and healing!!
Than last, but never least BOB!!
You did a GREAT job out there in the cold!! I am glad James come so you and him could keep each other company!! I am soooo proud of you also!! And a special thanks for coming soooo quickly to rescue me out on Airport Rd.!!!! Boy, you were there within minutes of my "pitiful phone call"!!! But I am very thankful!!
I was sad that I couldn't make it the whole way with everyone, but I am glad everyone got home safe and sound and had a great run...and two young ladies "I heard had nice warm pizza smelling tushies!!!" Now I wish I could have seen that one!!
Thank so much everyone for coming out to run and those who were
able to make it to brunch!! Look forward to running with you all again soon!! Keep up the great work!! Run safe and keep warm!! I missed those of you who couldn't make it this morning!! Hope to see you in the future.
thanks for being watchful! Marty is good at posting. He posted it on the main sight under our group runs. Most people check there first especial if they aren't signed up on the BRR list serve like Kim P wasn't. That's how she found us! But thanks for wondering!! And thanks Marty for all your hard work also!! You guys have been great for keeping things "RUNNING" hee, hee, hee!! I hope to get back into things better soon!! Thanks!

Hi Eveyone,
We will be meeting at the Bellefonte Middle school for 2 runs. The first will be a 4 miler which is the Herbie's Hometown Loop. The second run which should begin around 9:15 is a 9 or 10 miler from the middle school out Airport Rd. to Highway Pizza and back to run a few of the back streets to get the extra miles then back to the middle school.
I had Marty Mazar post the run, but I didn't see it show up on our emails. I'm so sorry :(
Hi Rachel and Denise,
The track at Rec Hall is a bit of an odd size:
"The track is 257 yards around, as measured 18 inches in from the rail
(about where you'd run). This translates to 6.85 laps/mile.
A 5K = 21.25 laps; 4 miles = 27.4 laps."

Jerry, Rachel was asking about the Rec Hall track. That's open to
everybody at almost any time when the gym is open. The few exceptions are
when teams (volleyball in particular) are practicing or when there are
events going on.
Rachel, Jerry told me over the phone that you and quite a few others
missed the cutoff for this week's Indoor Mile at the at the Multi-Sport
Facility. I hope you can make next Friday's competition. It should be
fun. The MSF track is a *real* track, high tech, 200 meters. Info on the
series is here:

The track is 257 yards (235 meters) around measured 18 inches from the

How big is the track (1/8, 1/4 mile)? Is anyone free to join in on these

Thanks,

Is everyone enjoying the snow? If you all are able to make it tonight we will be meeting at Rec Hall around 5:30 to run 3 miles. Maybe I can convince some of you to run another extra 2 or 3 miles.
Maybe we'll see you tonight weather permitting.

She is doing fine. We just thought with all she has been through these past couple of months we would try to get her in for a physical.
Bob and I are "cleaned up" (that is from a little run this morning!!) and ready to go to the job fair after we drop Kellie back off at school. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate all your prayers and encouragement thus far....we have good weeks and bad
weeks! Good thing we don't get them at the
same time!!! But anyway! I am a little nervous, but I am hopeful!!
We are hoping to see some of you tonight at the workout at Rec Hall at 5:30pm if possible! I think it will depend on how the day goes! Thanks again so much for your support thought this time!! Prayers do help soooo much!! Hope to see ya all soon!
OH, for those of you who did the ads workout....OUCH! ! It's OK, till I stretch upwards!! Hee, hee, hee!! Thanks Dave for having us over!! It was fun....I hope we didn't scare your neighbors?
