Thanks Everyone for the Wonderful run!!
It was nice to see everyone who came out early for a Saturday morning run! Thanks Marty K., Michael G., Nate H., Noel, Pam, Kim D., Jessica C., Denise, Sekou, Liz, Bob, Kellie, Dave (our fearless leader), and I. It started out a little cool, if the frost was any indication, but I think we figured out the secret to running faster....wear less clothes when it's cold...that makes you run faster... the more experienced runners started out cold, but were much more comfortable after they warmed up.
The Toftrees trail was very beautiful! Thanks Dave for all the back tracking to direct everyone in the correct direction! Also thanks for the water and Gatorade and especially the chocolate!! Michael I enjoyed listening to your stories!!
Michael was wondering way us kiddens were out in the cool weather, RUNNING!, instead of at home in front of the TV watching Cartons like the other seniable "little kids" on a Saturday "Penn State football game" morning!! I tried to tell him our parents locked us out of the TV room and we just thought we would go outside to play and there we were running on a trail with other kids!!! What fun!!!
Jessica good job on the run today!! You did super!!
Liz it was wonderful to see you!! Thanks for coming!!
Noel... it was nice to meet you!! Thanks for coming; it was nice to see you! Hope to see you at some of our other running gatherings!!
Marty, Michael, and Nate it was a pleasure running with you, or at least running behind you! You guys are an inspiration to us!! Ya did great!! Thanks for coming out to run with us!! It was fun!!
Pam you are incredible.... Take care of that hand and EYE!!
Sekou it was nice to see you again! Good job on your run!!
Denise and Kim way to go!! You guys are going to do great on your 1st half marathon!!
Bob and Kellie did great also!! Kellie is feeling better now!! She had trouble breathing in the cold air!! Bob to the rescue!! Thanks Bob!! The two of them walked-ran back, and did some of the exercise stations that appear on the trail from time to time. Bob wore too much and got overheated...he had Nike jackets and things hanging all along the trail. Kellie went ahead on the bike to retrieve some of them for him. The frost was beautiful. Like a James Taylor song says... the Ashes seemed dreamlike on account of that frosting...we even saw one little boy making FROST angels on the ground ! Only in State College on a football weekend.
And Dave... Thank You for being willing to lead a group run this morning!! We really appreciate it!! You are a great leader!!
We could call this our experience with the "Killer thorn Bush" trail run!! Dave got attacked twice by the "Killer thorn Bush" it was a close call both times, but he was able to escape and "RUN" for his life! Well, then on our way back we found Denise's white glove in the SAME "Killer Thorn Bush" all that we found was her glove no sign of Denise!! We had to fight the "Bush" to retrieve the glove!! Then Dave tackled the "Killer thorn Bush" and wrestled it off the course, but it had back up "Killer thorn Bushes" and then poor Pam was attacked from the side and hit in the eye...once we got the bleeding stopped we were able to continue running out of the "Thorny Bush" territory!! Wasn't easy!! The good thing was Dave and Michael went back aways down the trail and found Kim and Denise...Denise was alive...she
fought a good fight against the "Bush" and Kim did her duty in helping to fight against the "Killer thorn Bush" !! Thanks Kim !! Good to hear you all made it out the the "Bush territory" alive!!
When we finally made it out "alive" from our adventure!! We were
"a little" hungry and decided we would walk to get something to eat!! We had a great time at the restaurant!! Thank you all for coming!! Maybe next time you will be able to join us for lunch!! It was a great day!!
Happy running!!
Christine
