Buff, I may have agreed with some of your statements maybe 3 times since joining
this group.  Hey, a difference of opinion is okay with me, and we should have
the right to express ourselves here freely, but today you crossed the line.  You
Sir, are an idiot and your statements about dope smoking is as ridiculous as you
are.  Your hatred towards Jackson goes beyond the norm, and you should see a
shrink.  Yes, I have a hatred towards Favre, but at least he was the enemy who
EVERY faithful Viking fan rooted against.  I don't begrudge my fellow Vikings'
fans from loving the fact he is now a Viking, even if it churns at my stomach. 
I can respect their desire to win, as I do yours, but come off your high horse.

Jackson has improved in every year he has been on the team.  His QB Rating:
2006 62.5
2007 70.8
2008 95.4

TD vs INT
2006 2 vs 4 (4 games)
2007 9 vs 12 (12 games)
2008 9 vs 2 (9 games)

A fan could look at these stats and see the vast improvement. Look at Cutler, 5
INTs in 1 game?  Not everybody has what it takes to be a QB at this high level. 
It takes time.  Under the "Buff" philosophy, you give up and throw in the towel
at the first sign of failure.  Failure happens with every QB.

Seeing what a healthy Rice can do, you wonder if Jackson had him and Harvin as a
target last year, would he has been replaced?  Not to mention Loadholt instead
of Cook on the right side.  I won't compare Jackson to Favre because it is
ridiculous to do so.  I am just saying that I rather win with him than an
ex-Packer that I spent so many years rooting against.  Buffster, why can't you
understand that?  Enjoy the season and forget about me.

Of course, there are exceptions to changing loyalties - but this instance isn't
one of them.

The fans of the Colts in Baltimore should rightfully have abandoned the Colts
once Irsay screwed them over.  I lived in Houston when Asshole Bud Adams screwed
over the Houston fans and they should have rightfully abandoned the
Oilers/Titans when he did so as well.  Same should have happened when the Cards
left St. Louis, the Rams left LA, and when the Raiders left Oakland originally
(or when they left LA to go back to Oakland).  But that is the extreme case. 
Hating the ownership shouldn't change your team loyalties (but boycotting the
games, not buying merchandise and slamming the owners in the media via letters
to the editor, blogging, and email barrages are all acceptable alternatives). 
As for the "buying championships" thing, as long as the owner is trying to win
titles for MY team and it doesn't cost ME anything more, I'm all for it.  In
fact, the money argument is the purview of whiny fans who don't have the balls
to tell their own billionaire owners to pony up more cash to players instead of
hoarding it for themselves.  Or don't you remember how cheap Red McCombs was
when he was the Vikings owner?  That cheap bastard wouldn't let Tice hire enough
assistants to field a respectable staff, among other things.  In fact, if more
owners spent more on salaries for players and outbid the Yankees, the payroll
disparity would have long disappeared.  Good luck getting that salary cap passed
in MLB without the owners being willing to sacrifice an entire season ala the
NHL.  For the record, I have no problem with a salary cap in baseball.  It will
only make it easier for me when the Yankees still win their share of titles.

BTW, this year's Yankee roster contained a higher percentage of "homegrown"
players than all but one team in the majors (Colorado) and led the entire AL in
that catagory.  Odd that no Mets, Cubs or Red Sox fans were "morally repulsed"
by those teams' high salaries, especially the Red Sox fans when they "bought"
those two titles in 2004 and 2007.  On that note, we will drop the baseball
discussion.

As for the Redskins, when the ignorant Redskins fan base finally realizes that
Snyder is only in it for the money, then they will finally start to show their
displeasure by boycotting games.  That will probably happen in about 20 years
from now.  In other words, never.  LOL

Finally, the answer to your last question is that a fan can leave whenever he or
she chooses.  But the rest of us say to them, "Don't ever come back".  Also, a
fan risks his or her own credibility as a fan if he or she changes teams every
time something bad happens.  So, basically, a fan should not change teams unless
something like the team moves or a similar drastic measure is taken and once
they do, they should consider carefully which team to root for because if they
end up not liking their new team and decide to choose another, they will
eventually have no credibility whatsoever as a fan of any team.

Sorry for the long diatribe, but you did bring up valid points that warranted
addressing.

Luckily for us all, we are all diehard Vikings fans who will never leave our own
team. GO VIKINGS!!!!!!!!

On another note, Chris, if you insist in calling me names, it is all good, but
were you at the last Packer game at Mackey's?  If so, you would have heard
cheers when Rodgers went down.  It is part of a lot of fans' psyche to cheer
that whether it is right or wrong.  I guess I don't really wish Favre harm, but
a part of me wouldn't mind seeing him carted off the field.  In truth, I just
want Jackson back.  I might be in the minority, but I just can't accept the
feeling of selling out.  Yes, I said I wouldn't watch any games this year.  I
just love my Vikes too much to stay away.

Cajun, no, I will not come around.  Favre is the spawn from Cheesyhell.

I agree, Cajun. They don't need any locker room distractions, negativity or
primadonnas. Also have Chester.

Offense has solid backups (OK, "serviceable" is a better word for the QB
backups).

I think the DL is fine. Although Sapp, Allen and Paymah have held up even though
targeted, a veteran DB may not be out of the question. LB's are OK but if a
solid vet were available that is a potential option if any get dinged up.

By the way, just heard speculation on ESPN that TJ may see action this week. 
Hope it's late 3rd or early 4th quarter because the Vikes are out by 3 TDs or
more and not because Farve's groin is a problem.

I disagree about the food - that was the best thing about T&H.  And now that
Mackey's carries root beer for me, that would be a tie in the drinks catagory
for me (with the tiebreaker being that Mackey's went out of their way to
accommodate my love of root beer while T&H already had it in stock - but no
points deducted off of T&H on the drinks score).  Crowded never bothered me
either place, but there seems to be a greater Vikings percentage of fans at
Mackey's, which is always good.  As I said before, I won't knock T&H.  They made
a business decision and will reap whatever rewards come of that.  I wish them
well, but my loyalties now lie with Mackey's.  I'll gladly send all of my
Steelers fans to T&H though.  They treated me well while they were our official
home so I feel no need to bash them now that they moved into a different
direction.  It's all good!
