Vikings Fans, time to come out of hybernation. OK, I'm the one that's been
hybernating. I spoke with Sean and Dana last week and they will be ready for us
on Saturday April 24, for the NFL Draft. The Draft starts at 12:00 noon, and
the Vikings currently have the 19th pick.
As Al mentioned there is a good possibility that the Vikings may trade out of
that pick. Weather they will move up or move down is anybody's guess. I plan
on being at Stars and Stripes around noon and staying until the Vikings 2nd
round pick at #50. Last year we had about 25 people at glory days. Hopefully
we can do a little better this year.
Who will the Vikings pick? Good question. They have all 22 starters under
contract. They desperately need at least one DE to Upgrade the position. If
not 2 DE's to offset Mixon's upcoming suspension. They need to upgrade one of
the Outside Linebacker Positions, as well as add depth on the Offensive Line,
Defensive Line and Secondary. The good news is there is a lot of good players
in this years draft that should be able to help at some point during the season,
as well as early on, on Special Teams.
There will probably be another free agent or two signed after the draft. More
than likely after the June 1, cut date.
The NFL should release the schedule for the season within the next day or two.
As some of you may have already heard the Vikings will open the season in the
Metrodome against the Cowboys at 4:15. There are no Pre-season games scheduled
for national TV.
Look forward to seeing you at Stars and Stripes on April 24th
Go Vikes!!
Joel
